Technology Logistics TechnicianPay Grade: 770 ($21.13 per Hr Min) Primary Purpose: This multi-functional operational position covers the foundational lifecycle of the district's educational and administrative technology. Personnel in this entry-level role operate with total flexibility, serving interchangeably across physical delivery support, asset configuration, inventory data tracking, and bench-level hardware repair. Multiple positions across the department share this title to create operational redundancy, ensuring that field logistics, data integrity, and repair pipelines remain fully functional regardless of individual staffing shifts. This position also serves as an operational link between the Central Technology Warehouse and the district's 70+ instructional and administrative campuses, with technicians trained to handle field logistics assistance, basic inventory data tracking, and high-volume hardware repair triage. Personnel assist with daily hot-swap deliveries, full-scale technology moves, and event setups, while maintaining database integrity for over 50,000 students and staff and performing component-level break/fix maintenance under supervision.Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED required. Technical school certificate or Associate's degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Data Analytics, or Business Administration preferred. Entry-level or industry-standard certifications such as CompTIA A+ are preferred. Manufacturer-specific repair certifications (e.g., Apple ACMT, Dell/HP Self-Maintainer) are an advantage. Valid Driver's License with a completely clean driving record (no major citations or at-fault accidents) required. Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required. Must pass a mandatory background check and drug screening.Special Knowledge/Skills: Documented experience driving and maneuvering 16ft to 24ft commercial box trucks with liftgates or an aptitude to be trained in large vehicle operations. Ability to read deployment manifests, hardware mapping layouts, and stick to strict schedules. Basic spatial awareness and physical understanding of load balancing, pallet wrapping, and cargo securing techniques. General understanding of IT hardware form factors to identify different types of client equipment. Foundational proficiency in data handling, including basic Excel operations (data cleaning, CSV formatting) and database tools. Exceptional fine motor skills and dexterity for handling micro-screws, delicate ribbon cables, and sensitive electronic components without causing secondary damage. Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for data security, device wiping, and hardware disposal. Clear written and verbal communication skills to interact politely with parents, teachers, and campus administrators regarding asset-related topics.Experience: Technical Repair/Support: 02 years of experience in technical hardware troubleshooting, assembly-line configuration, or component repair. Logistics/Warehouse: 02 years of experience in fleet delivery, logistics assistance, or warehouse fulfillment operations. Database/Inventory: 1+ years of experience working with data entry, spreadsheet management, or an asset tracking database preferred.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Field Logistics Assistant & Route Support Assists with driving or navigating assigned daily delivery routes using district cargo vans and box trucks ranging from 16ft to 24ft. Transports student laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, AV systems, and rolling deployment carts across campuses. Supports the rapid 24-to-48-hour turnaround and distribution of "hot-swap" replacement devices to minimize instructional downtime. Serves as an operational face of the Technology Operations department, maintaining a professional, urgent, and customer-service-oriented demeanor while on site.Technical Moves & Event Logistics Assists in executing full-scale technology moves, including computer lab relocations, campus renovations, administrative office shakeups, and facility decommissionings. Supports the logistical lifecycle of major district events such as board meetings, convocations, graduation ceremonies, professional development days, and standardized testing windows. Helps safely transport, stage, and recover required AV and computing technology for events. Works alongside IT Project Managers, network technicians, and campus leadership to fulfill deployment timelines and ensure bulk hardware arrives systematically. Helps track, inventory, and audit temporary equipment deployments to guarantee 100% asset recovery post-event.Chain of Custody & Security Enforces strict chain-of-custody protocols at every campus stop, move, or event location. Obtains physical or digital signatures from designated Campus IT Liaisons, Project Leads, or Admins before releasing or accepting technology. Verifies physical device counts and asset tags against printed delivery manifests or move orders to ensure 100% accuracy before departing. Secures the cargo compartments of transport vehicles using heavy-duty padlocks while navigating school zones or parking lots.Inventory Control & Data Entry Support (ITAM) Assists the primary database administrator with managing the digital lifecycle of hardware from initial PO receipt to final disposition. Executes basic data entry, records processing, data imports, and bulk-location transfers within the IT Asset Management (ITAM) platform. Helps investigate and resolve database anomalies like duplicate serial numbers, ghost records, or mismatches between MDM check-ins and ITAM records. Conducts continuous physical cycle counts of warehouse stock to maintain a 99.9% accurate database match with the shelves. Supports mandatory inventory audits with Campus IT Liaisons, Principals, and Librarians by preparing digital rosters and locating unverified hardware. Assists in compiling technical identifiers (MAC addresses, serial numbers, last-known IPs) for devices reported stolen to law enforcement.Foundational Break/Fix Repair & Provisioning Diagnoses and performs high-volume component-level repairs on Chromebooks, Windows laptops, and iPads. Replaces cracked LCD screens, swollen lithium-ion batteries, missing keyboards, damaged trackpads, and faulty motherboards. Maintains a steady daily repair quota to ensure a continuous, fully stocked supply of functioning hot-swap devices. Logs consumed parts from the warehouse "parts cage" into the ITAM tracking system to keep inventory levels accurate. Utilizes MDM platforms like Google Admin Console, Microsoft Intune, and Jamf to powerwash, wipe, update, and enroll devices. Performs strict Quality Assurance (QA) checks, verifying Wi-Fi connectivity, camera functionality, keyboard response, and battery health before deployment. Applies district asset tags and protective casings to newly received or repaired hardware.Warranty & RMA Support Checks whether damaged devices are covered under manufacturer warranties or accidental damage protection (ADP) plans. Assists certified Self-Maintainers with logging hardware failures, ordering parts, and executing vendor-compliant repairs for OEMs like Dell, HP, and Apple. Prepares unrepairable or defective units for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) shipping.Material Handling & Safety Operations Safely loads and unloads heavy rolling deployment carts weighing over 200 lbs using motorized or manual liftgates and pallet jacks. Balances and secures internal cargo using heavy-duty ratchet straps and load bars to prevent equipment damage. Assists on the warehouse floor with staging outbound project freight and receiving inbound pallets when not driving a route. Performs mandatory daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections covering tire pressure, fluid levels, liftgate hydraulics, and braking systems. Immediately reports any vehicular damage or required maintenance to the Technology Warehouse Manager. Adheres to all state traffic laws, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and safety protocols within active school zones and crowded venues.Summer Operations & End-of-Year (EOY) Surge Support Assists with the high-volume physical retrieval of 40,000+ student devices during the End-of-Year collection window in May. Navigates congested campus drop-off zones to extract locked carts during end-of-school operations. Bulk-updates tens of thousands of student device statuses from "Assigned" to "Warehouse / In-Repair" within the database. Identifies students who failed to return devices and triggers immediate remote lockdown protocols. Pivots to a high-speed mass-triage repair assembly line during summer months to process broken devices before August school openings. Duties as assigned.Equipment Used: Uses computer, printer, copier, calculator, scanner and fax Working Conditions: Mental Demands: Dynamic transitions between climate-controlled vehicle cabs, active campus environments, loading docks, venues, and an industrial warehouse repair center. Exposure to standard warehouse noise, dust, climate fluctuations, and extreme weather conditions (high heat, heavy rain) during loading and unloading operations Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: This is a highly physical operational role requiring frequent climbing in and out of truck cabs and cargo boxes. Requires prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a specialized anti-static workbench, alongside periods of stationary screen time for data entry. Must possess the physical strength and leverage to safely push, pull, and steer heavy rolling carts up and down ramps, onto liftgates, and through corridors. Requires intense visual concentration and the use of specialized hand tools (spudgers, precision screwdrivers, heat guns). Frequently requires walking the warehouse floor and using handheld barcode scanners to audit pallets and deployment carts. Requires frequent lifting, moving, and stacking of individual technology bins, server racks, or boxes weighing up to 4050 lbs.
