Director, Clinical Development (MD)

Gilead Sciences seeks a Director of Clinical Development to lead inflammation therapeutic programs from early through mid-stage trials. The role requires medical expertise in immunology and clinical trial design, with responsibility for developing clinical strategies, leading cross-functional teams, and translating complex biological data into development decisions.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and scientific leadership for inflammation development programs and refine clinical development plans
- Lead design and execution of early- and mid-stage clinical trials, including Phase 1b/2 and dose-ranging studies
- Integrate clinical, translational, biomarker, and competitive data to inform asset strategy and decision-making
- Partner with Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial colleagues on cross-functional teams
- Develop relationships with investigators and external experts; contribute to regulatory strategy and health authority interactions
Requirements
- MD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree with 6+ years biopharmaceutical or academic clinical research experience
- Demonstrated expertise in immunology, inflammation, or immune-mediated disease
- Experience designing, conducting, and interpreting interventional clinical trials
- Strong command of trial design, endpoints, statistics, safety assessment, and drug development principles
- Ability to influence multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex science to non-specialist audiences
- Comfort evaluating emerging biological and clinical data to inform strategic development decisions
Compensation: $261,375–$338,250 base
