About the Role

The Sleep Disorder Coordinator supports the operational, clinical, and quality functions of the Sleep Lab to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, patient-centered care. This role assist in coordinating sleep diagnostic and therapeutic services while maintaining compliance with AASM standards, CMS requirements, hospital policies, and provider orders.

As the Sleep Disorder Coordinator, you make a meaningful impact by supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality sleep disorder services and ensuring patients receive efficient, compassionate care. Through your attention to quality, compliance, and operational coordination, you help promote positive patient outcomes and maintain the highest standards of the Sleep Lab.

Program Oversight & Regulatory Compliance

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) accreditation standards, including policies, procedures, staff education, and quality assurance activities.
  • Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures in alignment with AASM, CMS, and hospital standards.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for accreditation, audits, inspections, and site visits.
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities required to support accreditation and regulatory compliance.

Clinical & Operational Coordination

  • Assist with coordinating daily Sleep Lab operations, including scheduling, staffing support, room utilization, and patient flow. 
  • Support the delivery of sleep diagnostic and therapeutic services in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and AASM technical standards.
  • Assist with patient education regarding sleep study procedures, PAP therapy, equipment use, safety expectations, and preparation requirements.

Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement

  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating quality and performance metrics, including study adequacy, repeat study rates, patient satisfaction, and report turnaround times.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and support initiatives that enhance service quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

Equipment, Supplies & Safety

  • Assist with managing departmental supplies and inventory to ensure operational readiness and continuity of patient care.
  • Prepare, clean, maintain, and set up equipment for home sleep testing (HST) and PAP/DME equipment setups.
  • Support compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, equipment maintenance, and HIPAA requirements.

Documentation, Billing & Administrative Compliance

  • Assist in ensuring accurate, complete, and timely documentation within the electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Support the Director in monitoring charge capture and collaborate with billing personnel to resolve documentation or charge discrepancies related to sleep services.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable hospital policies, federal regulations, and privacy standards.

Patient Experience

  • Promote a welcoming, safe, respectful, and patient-centered environment.
  • Address patient questions, concerns, or complaints related to sleep services in collaboration with departmental leadership.
  • Support patient education and successful initiation of PAP therapy and other prescribed sleep-related treatments, as applicable.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in departmental meetings, education, training, and professional development activities.
  • Assist with departmental projects, hospital committees, and organizational initiatives as assigned.
  • Assist in maintaining AASM accreditation readiness. 
  • Support departmental goals, hospital mission, and compliance with Scott County Hospital policies.
  • Support program development, service line growth initiatives, continuous quality improvement and patient satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist preferred.
  • Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP equipment and sleep study workflows.
  • Current Kansas Licensure and BLS certification.

Position Details

Schedule: Full-time, non-exempt position with the expectation to work 36-40 hours per week. Regular and punctual attendance is required.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and move sleep lab equipment as needed. Frequent sitting and typing at a computer terminal.

Equipment: Sleep lab software, computers, C-pap, Bi-pap, and Auto SV.
