Summary Objective The purpose of this position is to organize, schedule and coordinate community outreach events and activities. Assist in resolving problems and complaints, recruits participants, solicits donations, and disseminates information This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• Assists in planning, developing and implementing policies, procedures and programs.
• Coordinates the scheduling of facilities and logistical issues for meetings, projects and events.
• Solicits donations, grants, support and participation from businesses, neighborhood organizations, community agencies and groups to promote, develop and implement projects, events and programs.
• Prepares and distributes press releases, and schedules and coordinates public relations activities and public service announcements with radio and television stations and the media.
• Attends public meetings and community group meetings to provide information, answer questions, discuss citizens' complaints, concerns and issues, and to explain procedures and operations.
• Organizes and coordinates community outreach programs, projects and activities with agencies or departments to provide information, to publicize available services and to maintain positive public relations.
• Recruits citizens for community projects and activities.
• Assists citizens and community leaders in resolving neighborhood problems and complaints.
• Communicates with agencies and coordinates projects, office functions and activities.
• Composes correspondence, and maintains records and files.
• Collects statistical data, enters data, and analyzes and prepares reports.
• Provides technical assistance concerning operations, procedures, activities, laws, ordinances and regulations.
• Assesses, counsels and refers clients to available financial, medical, social and community assistance and services.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Science or related discipline.
• One (1) year of social work, social service, community service, resource development, teaching or job training experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must provide one's own source of transportation.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

• Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT) Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
