CNC Programmer

CNC Programmer This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs to support precise and efficient machining operations. You will create and interpret CNC programs from engineering drawings, set up and configure CNC machines, and collaborate closely with machinists, operations, engineering, and design teams to continuously improve processes, quality, and productivity. Responsibilities Develop and interpret CNC programs based on engineering drawings and specifications for a variety of machining operations. Create and plan setups for CNC operations, including selecting and specifying tools, fixtures, and workholding solutions for each program. Assist setup operators in verifying and adjusting new and existing CNC programs to ensure correct operation and part conformity. Set up and configure CNC machines by loading materials, selecting appropriate tools, and inputting or loading CNC programs. Conduct test runs on CNC machines and make necessary adjustments to programs, offsets, and tooling to ensure accuracy and precision. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine performance, tooling, and quality of output, minimizing scrap and rework. Collaborate with machinists, operations, engineering, and design teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency and throughput. Maintain detailed records of programming changes, machine settings, and production outcomes within the processes outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company standards during all phases of CNC programming and machine operation. Provide technical support and training to machine operators and other staff on CNC programs, setups, and best practices. Monitor machine performance and coordinate or conduct regular maintenance activities to help prevent downtime. Continuously evaluate CNC programming techniques and machining processes, implementing improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency. Essential Skills Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in CNC programming. Proficiency in Mastercam for creating and editing CNC programs. Proficiency in SolidWorks for interpreting and working with 3D models. Proficiency in AutoCAD for reading and utilizing 2D engineering drawings. Proficiency in SolidCAM for CAM programming and toolpath generation. Strong understanding of different CNC controls, including FANUC, HAAS, and MAZATROL. Familiarity with various CNC machines, including lathes and mills, and their operating principles. Experience with setup, operation, and basic maintenance of CNC machines. Strong knowledge of materials and machining processes, including cutting parameters and tooling selection. Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and 3D models accurately. Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather information and use data to determine cause and effect for complex problem-solving. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing environment that combines office-based programming work with hands-on activity on the shop floor. You will regularly work with CNC lathes and mills equipped with controls such as FANUC, HAAS, and MAZATROL, using software tools including Mastercam, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and SolidCAM. The position involves interacting closely with machinists, operations, engineering, and design teams, requiring clear communication and coordination. Work typically follows standard production hours, with periods of increased activity when deadlines are tight or when troubleshooting and process improvements are needed. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Goldsboro, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $84000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. 401(k) Match: Includes a standard 4% company matching contribution.
