Accounts Payable Specialist

Purpose * Valkyrie Enterprises is in immediate need of an Accounts Payable Specialist to work in the Finance department at our corporate headquarters in Virginia Beach, VA. This person will be a part of our accounts payable team. * This position has hybrid possibilities. Job Description * Process large volume of invoices. * Communicate with vendors and other departments regularly for the purpose of gaining necessary information to process invoices in a timely fashion. * Ensure accuracy and proper validation is in place for vouchers and payments. * Ensure proper recording of invoices to general ledger accounts. * Assist with vendor payments; includes check runs, ACH payments and wire transfers. * Assist with reconciling accounts payable subsidiary ledger to general ledger and other accounts as assigned. * Assist with audit requests; ensure proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records for audits. * Assist with preparation and submittals of 1099's. * Manage multiple projects and responsibilities while continuously meeting critical deadlines. * Assist with managing the AP group email. * Customer service focused, internally and externally. * Perform other accounts payable related duties as assigned. Qualifications * Must have Associates degree in related field OR HS Diploma or equivalent plus at least 3 yrs. experience. * Must have experience with Full-cycle AP and Travel Expense processing. * Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Must be comfortable working independently, but also as a team when beneficial. Desired Qualification * Experience in Government Contracting. * Experience with Deltek Costpoint. Travel Requirements: * Less than 10% travel * If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. (More information regarding REAL ID can be found: ) Physical Requirements: * Must be able to work in an office, industrial, or shipboard environment. * Be able to lift and move materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one-man lift. * Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. * Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
