Motor Rewind Technician

Job Description Job Description Motor Rewind Technician Malton Electric is hiring a Motor Rewind Technician for our Virginia, Minnesota facility. The ideal candidate will inspect, test and rewind damaged electric motor windings, restoring the motor to full functionality in accordance with industry standards. Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years experience as a Winder. Ideal candidate has basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electrical motor components and procedures. Strong ability to understand and replicate skill-related training and operational procedures demonstrated by supervisor. Physical Abilities Frequently lift and move up 50 Pounds; occasionally lift and move over 100 pounds. Stand for extended periods of time. Walk, balance, stoop, crouch and climb as needed. Strong fine motor skills and finger dexterity for detailed work manipulating small parts. Clear vision with or without correction; strong peripheral vision, and depth perception needed. Strong hearing and verbal communication skills. Work Performed Visually inspect components of equipment for damage and electrical malfunction. In accordance with EASA AR100, test motor windings for electrical or physical defects through physical observation and assessing the operations of thermostats, resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples and thermistors. Dismantle all unserviceable windings and inspect core slots to ensure they are free of sharp edges and foreign materials. Identify and inspect parts that may be reused for rewinding, ensuring to identify any structural damage or unusual conditions. Rewind electric motors, including but not limited to single-phase, three-phase, DC fields, armatures, wound rotors, and transformers. Observe proper insulation techniques and requirements during the rewinding process in accordance with the EASA ARMo100. Perform testing on all rewound equipment per EASA AR100 specifications to confirm proper motor performance and document all results. Document all relevant data regarding the initial damages of the motor, operation conditions, intended service, as well as completed repair, providing a clear description of initial findings to final testing. Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed in a timely manner. Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including, but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, grinders, cranes, forklifts, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems, and various handheld power and non-power tools. Maintain a clean and organized work area, utilize personal protective equipment, and follow all safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor.
