Your Clinical Impact As an essential member of our oncology team, you will be responsible for the delivery of life-changing treatments: Treatment Delivery: Accurately administer prescribed radiation doses with a focus on safety and patient comfort. Technical Expertise: Operate specialized equipment, including CT s, and perform minor troubleshooting and laser alignment to ensure machine accuracy. Patient Care: Monitor patients for reactions throughout their course of treatment and provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and their families. Documentation: Maintain meticulous medical records and machine fault reports within the EMR system to ensure 100% compliance and safety. What We Are Looking For Certification: You must be ARRT Certified in Radiation Therapy and hold a current state license. Safety: Current BLS Certification is required (ACLS is preferred). Experience: Minimum of 6 months of hands‑on experience or equivalent training in a Radiation Oncology setting. Skills: Strong analytical skills, a high level of detail orientation, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy clinical environment. General Summary The Radiation Therapist is an essential member of the Radiation Oncology team who primarily functions in a specialized area of radiation therapy technology in the role of direct patient care provider in the Radiation Oncology Center. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the performance of all duties relating to the administration of a prescribed course of Radiation Therapy. The Radiation Therapist must be able to understand and carry out complex medical prescriptions and be able to work under pressure. Furthermore, the Radiation Therapist must be able to communicate verbally in a clear and concise manner to personnel, patients, and physicians, and be task and detail oriented. Most importantly, the Radiation Therapist provides quality patient care in relation to the patient's prescribed diagnosis and treatment needs. Responsibilities Accurately and efficiently review and/or administer daily prescribed Radiation Therapy treatments to patients assigned to the treatment unit at a speed consistent with patient scheduling. Observe and adhere to all department policies concerning Radiation Therapy treatment procedures. Prepare room and equipment for patient by gathering all necessary equipment, supplies, and setup devices. Set appropriate treatment unit parameters. Activate the treatment unit and deliver the prescribed dose of radiation. Maintain visual and/or audible communication with the patient during treatment. Obtain appropriate port films on patients when prescribed; make adjustments in field placement as needed. Throughout the course of Radiation Therapy, monitor patients for unusual reactions and events, and report same to Clinical Director and Radiation Oncologist. Keep immobilization devices in a clean and orderly manner and utilize the devices as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Maintain current knowledge of therapeutic procedures performed in the Radiation Oncology Department. Possess basic knowledge of Radiation Oncology equipment function to provide for minor repair and troubleshooting for problems; water and gas levels, laser alignment, etc. Proficient in the utilization of all Radiation Oncology equipment in the department including CT. Utilize appropriate body mechanics in moving/lifting patients and equipment to prevent injury to patients and to self. Apply safety principles in the performance of position responsibilities. Record Radiation Oncology charges as procedures are performed. Keep records of machine down time and maintain machine fault list report. Assist supervisor in placing and scheduling service calls. Ensure proper hand off of responsibilities once their task is completed. Ensure that all medical records are accurate and complete within the system for all patients. Perform other position related duties as assigned. Certifications, Licenses or Registry Requirements One (1) year certificate from college or technical school in Radiation Therapy certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT). BLS certification required, ACLS preferred. License and certification as required by state. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Maintain current knowledge of therapeutic procedures performed in the Radiation Oncology Department. Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR. The RT must have at least six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of database management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
