Concrete Plant Manager
Position Overview:
Drives strategy execution by overseeing and managing the Concrete Plant. The specific areas of focus include, but are not limited to, employee productivity, operational efficiency, customer service levels, employee retention/satisfaction by maintaining a positive working environment. Should develop plans for operations, budgets, and policies and procedures. Supervises, coaches and mentor subordinates. Monitors activities and satisfies reporting requirements in accordance with the Company’s policies. Responsible for financial performance which includes among other things profit & loss accounts and capital expenditures. Leads by example and shows behavior consistent with the company’s values.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
- Delivers strategic leadership and management practices to the organization in support of the company’s business strategy. Ensures continual process improvement.
- Communicates and promotes safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards. Leads by example. Creates and enforces a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. Responsible for maintaining safe working environments and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations; coordinate closely with the safety team.
- Responsible for ensuring positive relations with all: employees, customers, suppliers, community, government interest groups, etc. Assures adherence to applicable legislation and regulations, including permit and environmental conditions, in coordination with the local Plant Manager.
- Understands the needs of the customers and positions the company to profitably meet mutual needs of customer and company. Provides excellent customer service to all groups by addressing issues, questions or concerns in a timely manner. Build long-lasting relationships with customers.
- Ensures quality through evaluation of the production process, material inputs and outputs. Partners with support functions to ensure that the highest quality product is being delivered.
- Responds to and maintains positive employer-employee relationships that contribute to satisfactory productivity, motivation and morale. Prevents and resolves problems involving individuals when they arise. Motivates coaches and mentor employees to build effective teams.
- Supports the Region in achieving overall P&L targets by identifying opportunities for improvement as well as collaborating with other regional product lines to leverage resources, etc. Responsible for the attainment of revenue and profit goals for the division.
- Ensures adherence to budget and optimizes processes to achieve greater operational effectiveness. Oversees and directs preparation of operating budgets. Conducts operations reviews to assess all cost drivers that impact financials. Monitors and controls operational volumes, capacity, material use, inventory data, etc. Reviews financial statements, operations and cost reports, and other key performance indicators to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement. Manage capital expenditures.
- Partners with Management and support functions on the development of overall objectives and long-range goals/strategies for the region. Translates and cascades objectives to measurable goals to its direct reports and monitors actions, he is ultimately accountable for the successful execution of all approved strategies.
- Takes the lead role in communicating and demonstrating company vision, values and strategies to managers, business partners and the community.
- Develop staffing plans. Responsible for personnel management including recruitment, supervision, disciplinary actions, performance appraisals and terminations. Prioritize staff workloads to meet product needs/objectives in all areas. Develops and trains staff to ensure high skill levels. Partners with Human Resources on employee development and succession planning initiatives, recruiting, discipline, etc.
- Oversees and defines the regional labor strategy, if applicable.
- Ensures a culture built with honesty, integrity and in compliance with the company requirements.
- Other duties as apparent or assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's/University Degree preferred or equivalent experience
· 7-10 years related experience
· Minimum of 8 years of operations/production/commercial related management experience in the construction materials or related industry.
· Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
· Frequent travel to company and customer sites.
