Severance.AI was founded in 2026 to fix outplacement. When companies run layoffs, they typically pay $2,000 to $7,000 per employee for career transition services that only cover senior staff and that most employees never use.

Our platform gives every affected employee a personalized job search workspace with matched job openings, a tailored resume, interview preparation, and a 90-day transition plan, ready within minutes of the employer uploading their roster. We sell to HR departments at companies planning workforce reductions. Pricing runs from $149 to $549 per employee depending on tier.

Why This Role Matters

As our first sales hire, you will own the full sales cycle from first contact to closed deal. The founder handles product; you handle revenue. What you close directly determines what the company earns, and what you earn.

What You'll Do

You'll identify companies with upcoming layoffs and sell our platform to their HR decision-makers.

• Source prospects from public WARN Act filings, which list companies, locations, headcounts, and layoff dates 60 days in advance
• Identify and contact the right HR decision-maker at each company by phone, email, and LinkedIn
• Run product demos over video call
• Negotiate and close deals across our pricing tiers
• Keep a basic record of outreach and pipeline status

What You Bring

• Experience selling to HR, benefits, or workforce services buyers
• Comfort with phone-based outreach and video demos
• Ability to work independently with no daily oversight
• Authorized to work in the United States

Bonus Points For

• Prior background in outplacement, HR technology, staffing, or employee benefits
• Existing relationships with HR leaders at companies with 100+ employees
• Experience in a commission-based or quota-carrying role

What We Offer

• 50% commission on all revenue you close, paid when the customer pays. No cap.
• As a reference point: a 200-employee engagement at the $349/head tier is a $69,800 contract and a $34,900 commission

Compensation

Commission only. 50% of closed revenue, no cap. Independent contractor (1099). 90-day initial trial period. Written commission agreement provided before start.
