Associate Research Scientist II

Abbott seeks an Associate Research Scientist II for its Cancer Diagnostics Division in San Diego. The role involves executing moderate to complex research and development projects focused on translating diagnostic assay concepts into product development, with guidance from senior scientists. Responsibilities
Conduct bench-level experiments and identify technical problems or discrepancies
Plan experiments, analyze results, and generate data for scientific abstracts and publications
Operate scientific instruments and maintain comprehensive lab notebooks per regulatory standards
Prepare reports summarizing experimental outcomes and present findings to supervisors and teams
Mentor junior research associates and collaborate on diverse projects with shifting priorities
Requirements
Experience with next-generation sequencing assay development
Proficiency with liquid handling instrumentation
Bachelor's degree in life sciences, biology, or related field
Demonstrated laboratory techniques and scientific instrumentation operation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
