Contracts and Grants Analyst University of California Riverside Job Number: 31781517 Full/Part Time: Full Time Schedule: 8 AM - 5 PM Salary: $59,000 - $92,300 Position Information Under general supervision, the Contracts and Grants Analyst is responsible for performing pre and post‑award research administration duties including, but not limited to, developing research proposals, managing awards, processing transactions related to contract and grant management, and maintaining contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies. The Analyst will coordinate the submission of proposals to multiple agencies, including the development of multi‑year budgets, where analysis of financial information requires review of a variety of factors such as salaries, fringe benefits, and expenses. Responsibilities also include completing and approving transactions for signature by a manager or other authorized institutional official, and assisting faculty in planning for the effective and appropriate use of all their funds while ensuring compliance with agency‑specific terms and conditions, federal OMB circulars, and UC policy. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. UCR is not able to sponsor or take over employment visa sponsorship. Education Requirements Degree Requirement: Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training. Experience Requirements Required Experience: 2‑4 years of related experience ensuring compliance with sponsor terms and conditions, University policies, and federal/state requirements; submitting, reviewing, and endorsing sponsored project proposals; accepting awards that support sponsored projects; and preparing and issuing subawards. Preferred Experience: Demonstrated experience analyzing contractual, legal, and regulatory language; specialized experience in contract and grant programmatic/budgetary analysis and reporting; preparing fiscal and progress reports; work in research administration at a university, medical school, nonprofit research institute, or hospital. Minimum Requirements Occasional travel to/from campus and various SOM locations. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles. Writing skills to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and FERPA. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, browsers; experience with moderately complex databases. Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; tact and diplomacy with campus partners. Ability to manage a high volume of transactions. Maintenance of current knowledge of compliance regulations in research administration. Competence in spreadsheet/database software for financial analysis and reporting. Strong organization and prioritization skills, delivering work on time amid frequent interruptions. Teamwork and collaboration to complete tasks/projects. Independent judgment, strong organization, communication skills, and customer service focus. Additional Information Knowledge of UC financial and personnel policies and procedures for project scope and budget development. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor, and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines. Knowledge of compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc. Knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures, and techniques. Experience with University of California client/server systems.
