The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the electrical architecture and detailed design of complex vacuum process and semiconductor capital equipment from initial concept through manufacturing release. This role converts customer, product, and regulatory requirements into robust electrical specifications, and delivers high‑quality schematics, assemblies, and documentation that integrate power supplies, motion systems, robotics, sensors, and control hardware. The engineer acts as a technical leader, resolving advanced system-level issues, guiding design reviews, and mentoring junior engineers while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration, build, and installation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical architecture and detailed design of complex vacuum process and electro-mechanical capital equipment from concept through manufacturing release.

• Translate customer, product, and regulatory requirements into clear electrical specifications that balance performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability.

• Design, develop, and release electrical schematics, assemblies, layouts, and documentation integrating power supplies, motion systems, robotics, sensors, PLCs, and control hardware.

• Own high voltage electrical design primarily with digital control, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation.

• Develop PLC control cabinet designs and ensure proper integration with industrial machinery and motion control systems.

• Address and resolve component and design obsolescence, updating designs and documentation to support long-term product sustainment.

• Resolve advanced electrical and system-level issues across development, manufacturing, and fielded systems using structured root cause analysis.

• Plan, execute, and document electrical tests and design of experiments, analyzing data and translating results into actionable engineering recommendations.

• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and component-level analysis to debug and troubleshoot complex analog and digital circuits.

• Ensure designs meet applicable CE, UL, TUV, and RoHS requirements and follow design-for-compliance best practices.

• Set technical direction during design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and drive improvements in overall design quality and consistency.

• Mentor junior engineers by sharing best practices in electrical design, testing, documentation, and problem solving.

• Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Field Service teams to ensure seamless system integration, build, installation, and serviceability.

• Produce clear, well-structured documentation and presentations that distill complex technical concepts for diverse technical and non-technical audiences.

• Support continuous improvement of electrical design processes, tools, and standards for industrial and semiconductor process equipment.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of capital equipment design experience, or a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of capital equipment design experience.

• Demonstrated ownership of electrical design for complex electro-mechanical systems.

• Professional experience using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or a comparable electrical CAD platform for schematic and layout development.

• Advanced expertise in analog and digital circuit design, including schematic development, testing, and formal release.

• Hands-on ability to debug electrical issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and component-level analysis techniques.

• Experience integrating power supplies, motion controllers, PLCs, and electrical interfaces into larger industrial or semiconductor platforms.

• Industrial machinery design experience, including motion control and integration of digital and analog systems.

• High voltage electrical design experience, primarily with digitally controlled systems.

• Experience with PLC control cabinet design for industrial equipment.

• Working knowledge of vacuum equipment, robotics, and motion control systems.

• Familiarity with CE, UL, TUV, and RoHS requirements and design-for-compliance practices.

• Ability to conduct structured root cause analysis and resolve advanced electrical and system-level issues.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear documentation and presentations.

• Ability to work effectively across disciplines and influence decisions without direct authority.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with semiconductor process equipment such as laser annealing, ion beam deposition and etch, CVD, single wafer etch and clean, or lithography is beneficial.

• Background in designing electrical systems for advanced industrial or capital equipment environments.

• Experience addressing obsolescence in parts and designs and implementing updated solutions.

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions and design reviews in cross-functional teams.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation, configuration control, and formal release processes.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced engineering environment with evolving requirements and priorities.

Work Environment

The role operates in a standard professional office environment within an on-site manufacturing and engineering setting. Work is primarily conducted in the office area, focused on design, documentation, and collaboration with engineering and product teams, with access to lab and equipment areas as needed for testing and debugging. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $128000.00 - $162000.00/yr.
