Senior Accountant

This contract opportunity has the potential to extend beyond the initial engagement based on business needs and performance.Summary:Our client is seeking an experienced accounting professional to provide hands-on support across a variety of accounting functions during a critical transition period. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, can quickly adapt to changing priorities, and thrives in a position that offers broad exposure rather than narrowly focused responsibilities.Key Responsibilities:* Assist with the preparation and posting of journal entries as part of ongoing accounting operations* Support month-end close activities, including account analysis and reconciliation work* Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed* Contribute to both accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, helping balance workload across the finance team* Provide general accounting assistance and step into areas requiring additional support as priorities evolve* Investigate accounting issues, troubleshoot discrepancies, and recommend practical solutions* Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with established internal procedures* Learn new processes and systems quickly while working with a high degree of independenceRequirements* 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a Senior Accountant or similar role* Hands-on experience supporting a combination of: General Ledger accounting; Journal entries; Reconciliations; Accounts Payable; Accounts Receivable* Strong understanding of general accounting principles and month-end close procedures* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting functions* Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills* Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift* Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities with minimal oversightPreferred Qualifications:* Experience supporting ERP implementations, financial system upgrades, or process improvement initiatives* Experience stepping into transitional or project-based accounting assignments* Background within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization* Familiarity with large accounting platforms and integrated ERP systemsJob TypeContractCompensation38 - $42
