PCU and MedSurg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with various shift times available: 7a-7p, 7a-3p, 3p-7p, 7p-11p, 11p-7a, 7p-7a
• Every other weekend requirement with self-scheduling system
• Patient ratios: 1:4 for PCU patients (days), 1:5 for med/surg patients (days), 1:5-6 patients (nights)
• Mixed unit caring for oncology and trauma patients
• 1 year of experience required, first-time travelers accepted
• Charge nurse experience required with minimum 1 year
• Must pass open book exam on Friday during orientation with 90% score to continue
• 2 days of orientation provided
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), ONS/ONCC (chemo certification required)
• Work with common drips including chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, protonix
• Occasionally titrate insulin and cardizem drips
• Float to med/surg and PCU units of same level of care
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Artificial nails prohibited - refusal to remove leads to contract termination
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Must be located outside 50-mile radius from facility
• Use EPIC charting system and Alaris IV pumps
• Work with specialty equipment including ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring
• Nursing assistant support and additional unit support staff available
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

The facility features a 27-28 bed mixed PCU/medical-surgical unit that serves adult patients with diverse cultural backgrounds and varying medical needs. The organization emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered care, and hourly rounding to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The facility is equipped with modern technology including EPIC electronic medical records and advanced monitoring equipment to support complex patient care needs.
