Senior Design Release Engineer- Integrated Center Stack (ICS)

Job DescriptionThe RoleThe Integrated Center Stack (ICS) and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) are among the most visible and customer-facingtechnologiesinthevehicle,servingastheprimaryinterfacebetweencustomersandGM’sadvanceddigitalcockpitexperience.Asa Design ReleaseEngineer(DRE)–Displays&CockpitIntegration,youwillplayacriticalroleindeliveringhigh-qualitydisplaysystemsthatseamlesslyintegratedesign,functionality,andcustomerexperience.In this role, you will lead the development and integration of ICS, IPC, HVAC controls, and, where applicable, Front Passenger Infotainment (FPI) displays across vehicle programs. You will work closely with cross-functional teamsincludingInterior,HVAC,Electrical,Software,UserExperience,Manufacturing,Quality,Purchasing,ProgramManagement,andDesignStudioorganizationstoensuresuccessfulexecutionfromconceptthroughlaunchandproduction.This position offers broad exposure across engineering and product development disciplines, requiring both strong technical expertise and the ability to influence stakeholders, drive alignment, and resolve complex integrationchallenges.Thesuccessfulcandidatewillberesponsibleforensuringallprogramrequirements,deliverables,andcustomerexpectationsareachievedwhilebalancingquality,cost,timing,andtechnicalperformance.What You’ll Do Create Statement of Requirements (SOR) in collaboration with purchasing, studio and engineering to develop requirements, allowable cost, etc.Work alongside the Display team (instrument cluster, infotainment)Manage and update component-specific technical specification(s)Track and manage imperatives (cost, investment, mass, etc.) to meet program targetsProvide leadership, coaching, and technical direction to supplier resident engineer(s) and/or other DREsLead product development team (PDT) meetings and provided technical direction to PDT membersAct as engineering lead in studio activities for surface developmentWork with supplier to develop needed execution criteria (Design execution sections, surface, die vectors, regulatory compliance, etc.) to support surface developmentWork with User Experience, Interior and/or Appearance Studios and Materials Engineering to identify solutions for achieving finish, color, gloss, etc. of materialsEffectively communicate direction, status, issues and resolutions to PDT members, as well as all levels of leadership within the department, program team, purchasing and studioSupport development builds and launch activities with troubleshooting, retrofits, etc. to ensure a flawless launchManage all component validation activities and close all issues by required milestonesYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Bachelor of Science degree in EngineeringMinimum of 5 years of engineering experience of electronic components or styled infotainment components or another related technologyPossess a high level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complexDemonstrate creativity, initiative and good judgment in decision makingExperience as a cross-functional team leader dealing with styled componentsExperience with Launch in resolving fit/finish and any other build issues in manufacturingKnowledge of vehicle data communication systems (CAN, LVDS, LIN, ETHERNET)Knowledge of vehicle safety requirements (e.g., FMVSS, etc.)In-depth knowledge of requirements engineering process (FMEA, DFSS)What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Skilled in collaborating with design studio, program teams, other SMTs (interior and HVAC) and purchasingDesign Engineering skills (UniGraphics training)Designing parts (mechanical hardware engineering) to meet validation requirements, DFx, thermal, etc.Running simulations / analyses (CAE, thermal, moldflow, etc.)CADKnowledge of verification and validation process (component-, bench-, vehicle-level)Experience with managing multiple vehicle programs/suppliers simultaneouslyThisroleoffersauniqueopportunitytoshapethefutureofGM'sdigitalcockpitexperienceandinfluencethetechnologiesthatcustomersinteractwitheveryday.#LI-JK3 About GMOur vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.Why Join UsWe believe we all must make a choice every day – individually and collectively – to drive meaningful change through our words, our deeds and our culture.
