At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the Prototyping, Experimentation, and Instrumentation (PIE) Department and we are currently hiring an Instrumentation/Engineering Technician III/IV to perform fabrication, installation and operational support of instrumentation systems and wiring harnesses on various aircraft and test articles. Role & Responsibilities Pre-flight and post-flight support of F-35 platform, flight test pods, and ground support equipment (test carts, DRODI vans) Wire instrumentation packages on various platforms, following VX-23 and AID processes and procedures Maintain, install, calibrate, test and troubleshoot F-35 instrumentation systems Support on-aircraft ground testing and instrumentation pre-flights, post-flights, and test flight support (including loading and removing data cartridges and delivering them to data processing) Perform testing at other facilities and carriers, requiring travel Work in the Instrumentation Lab (troubleshooting, installing and checking out instrumentation systems) Conform to AVMI and LM FOD, tool‑control policies, and all facets of security (physical, AIS, document control, COMSEC, OPSEC, security education) and instrumentation quality assurance inspections Maintain, install, calibrate, test and troubleshoot E2D and P-8 instrumentation systems Work Conditions Tasks may require hazardous chemicals and noisy environments Work performed mostly in enclosed buildings Job includes sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted and 50-100 lbs assisted by others Working hours: 0600-1530 (first shift) and 1300-2230 (second shift) Requirements High School diploma required with two years of relevant experience (preferred) Knowledge of instrumentation systems and willingness to work various shifts and weekends Must obtain and maintain IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification within 60 days of start Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience Must obtain and maintain Non-Aircrew Cockpit Systems (NACS) qualification Current Driver’s License required; insured under company vehicle insurance policy while driving work or rental vehicles during employment U.S. Citizenship required; must obtain a DoD Secret Clearance prior to hire date and maintain it throughout employment All candidates must pass background screening (SSN, Driver Record, Criminal Background Investigation) Benefits Offered Medical, Dental, Vision Life Insurance Long-Term Disability 401(k) match Flexible Spending Accounts EAP Education Assistance PTO and Holidays Vacation and Sick Leave All responses will be handled with strict confidentiality.
