Kitchen Steward

Reporting to the Head Steward, our team of Kitchen Stewards work across the 4 kitchens at River Oaks Country Club to diligently support the culinary team during service. Full time position: AM or PM shifts available - Flexible schedule required including weekends and holidays. • Wash and store all cooking utensils, china equipment, flatware and glassware
• Keep all kitchen areas clean; Wash all wares in dish washing machine or by hand
• Wash and polish all stainless steel
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors and walk-in coolers
• Assist in food preparation, banquet plate up, store food after delivery and cleaning storage areas
• Maintain inventories of soap, chemicals and paper towels
• Keep floors in kitchen areas clean, clear of debris and dry

Qualifications and Personal Characteristics

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1 year experience as a dishwasher, porter or steward in a high volume restaurant, hotel or country club
• Knowledge of safe chemical and equipment handling preferred
• Familiar with operating machinery including dishwasher, sprayer, and kitchen equipment
• Possess a general knowledge of food and beverage service and standards helpful
• Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance
• Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
• Able to work in an environment that is hot and wet where floors can be slippery
• Ability to drive a manual vehicle helpful
