Administrative Clerk

If you have an eye for detail and enjoy data entry, we may have the job for you! As the Administrative Clerk in the Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Program, you will enter reportable data and case management/testing into the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) STI databases. You will manage disease data, follow up with individuals, produce written reports, and conduct other activities required to identify and control the spread of STIs and HIV.

We Require:

• Six months of experience performing data entry
• High school diploma or GED
• An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis

Other Requirements:

• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
• Must secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and complete a background check
• Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
• Travel will be required to attend conferences, training, and possibly varying work locations

We Also Value:

• Two years of experience performing data entry in a medical care environment, requiring knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases
• Experience using Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word
• Experience using the Prism Case Management System
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Job Contributions:

• Enters and maintains STI/HIV morbidity, case, interview, field services, and treatment data in ADHS PRISM and other STI/HIV databases using information from various source materials
• Reviews STI/HIV/Hepatitis C case records for completeness and accuracy, ensuring required demographic, case, treatment, and reporting information is documented appropriately
• Reviews positive STI/HIV/Hepatitis C test results and treatment information to verify adequate treatment and initiates appropriate Health Department follow-up when treatment is incomplete or inadequate
• Collects, compiles, and disseminates STI/HIV health and patient treatment data to STI Program managers to support monitoring, evaluation, and identification of emerging patterns and trends in STIs in Maricopa County
• Processes and routes communicable disease reports and case documentation for timely data entry, reporting, quality assurance, and records management
• Maintains, organizes, and files confidential STI/HIV/Hepatitis C communicable disease records, including sorting, alphabetizing, and filing closed field records according to established records management procedures
• Supports STI Program community outreach activities by compiling educational materials, registering clients, and maintaining accurate outreach and client records

Working Conditions:

• Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
• Eerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, or requires walking or standing to a significant degree
• Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software, and Hardware: All staff work with electronic medical records and state databases
• All staff have access to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for routine patient care, including medical gloves and medical masks.
