SUMMARY

Provide operational continuity across Grace Place by serving as a Home Manager Floater who fills staffing gaps in the residential homes, supports Citizen care, coordinates community programming, and assists with administrative projects. This flexible role strengthens the residential team while preparing the employee to step into a Home Manager position as opportunities arise.

 

I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

 

1. Sets the culture according to our GODRICH Core Values for the staff and Citizens as well as for the organization as a whole. As a leader, you are held to this standard anywhere that BiG staff or Citizens are, on or off campus.
2. Maintain the utmost confidentiality in dealing with Citizen records and health information. Adhere to HIPAA compliance requirements at all times.
3. Provide coverage within the residential homes for planned PTO, training, vacancies, and other staffing needs.
4. Work the regular residential shifts as scheduled. Normal shifts are Monday through Thursday 6:30–9:00 a.m. and 3:15–9:00 p.m.; Friday 6:30–10:00 a.m. and 4:00–9:00 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday 6:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m. Must sleep in the home when providing coverage for the Home Manager or the Weekend Supervisor roles.
5. Complete medication administration training and administer medications to Residential Citizens while providing coverage, under the oversight of the Healthcare Coordinator.
6. Continue developing the knowledge and skills necessary to become a permanent Home Manager. Serve as Acting Home Manager when a leadership vacancy or extended absence occurs.
7. Assist with daytime Citizen needs, including transportation, appointments, and other support services.
8. Respond to unexpected Citizen needs as appropriate (for example, when a Citizen becomes sick at work and needs to come home).
9. Provide additional support during emergencies or periods of increased operational need.
10. Plan and lead recreational activities and community events (when time allows).
11. Provide assistance with Fun Friday programming as needed.
12. Build meaningful relationships with Citizens across the community.
13. Assist with administrative projects, documentation, purchasing, training materials, and other operational tasks (when time allows).
    II. SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Managerial responsibilities include adherence to the Community's policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws. When serving as Acting Home Manager, oversee the residential staff and day-to-day operations of the home.

 

III. QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 1. Education and Experience – High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or a college degree preferred. Experience with special needs adults is strongly encouraged. Prior experience in residential care, house parenting, or community programming is a plus.
2. Skills and Abilities – Must be able to plan, organize and follow projects through to a successful conclusion. Must be a good listener and be able to resolve conflicts involving management and employee alike. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing schedules and staffing needs. Must also be proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
3. Language Skills – Employee must have excellent oral and written communication skills, especially the ability to be a good listener. Ability to read, interpret, and communicate documents such as safety procedures and policy manuals. Ability to write clear documentation, reports, and correspondence.
4. Mathematical Skills – Must have the ability to calculate and apply concepts of basic business math. Must also understand budgets and purchasing and how they apply to the operation of the residential homes.
5. Reasoning Ability – Candidates should have the ability to solve practical problems. Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several variables and different dynamics. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize duties while under deadlines, and respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations and emergencies.
6. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – Completion of medication administration training (or the ability to complete it before providing residential coverage); current CPR certification (or the ability to obtain it); valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the Community.
7. Interpersonal Skills – Must possess above average people skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers and Citizens at all levels with BiG.

 

1. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and drive, and to sit and work at a computer terminal when completing administrative work. Talking or hearing over the telephone is required. The employee must be able to respond physically to the needs of Citizens, including during emergencies, and to remain in the home overnight when covering for the Home Manager. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

1. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment is that of a residential community home setting.

Position Expectations. This is a flexible role designed to meet the changing needs of Grace Place. While no two weeks may look exactly alike, the employee will receive a regular work schedule that may include residential coverage, activities, administrative work, evenings, and occasional weekends. The priorities of the position, in order, are: (1) Citizen safety and well-being; (2) residential staffing continuity; (3) community programming; and (4) administrative support.

Campus Residency and Flexibility. This position includes employer-provided on-campus housing. Living within the Grace Place community allows the employee to become an integrated member of the community while providing additional flexibility to assist with operational needs. Living on campus does not mean the employee is continuously on duty. Unless scheduled to work or specifically assigned on-call responsibilities, the employee is considered off duty and is encouraged to enjoy personal time without interruption.

Because this role exists to provide continuity, the employee is expected to make reasonable efforts to assist with unexpected staffing needs when available. At the same time, Grace Place is committed to respecting the employee's personal commitments, providing work schedules as far in advance as reasonably possible, protecting regular days off, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
