About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Medical Records Release of Information (ROI) Associate to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing medical record requests accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with HIPAA regulations and company policies. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and committed to delivering exceptional customer service while safeguarding patient privacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Process all Release of Information (ROI) requests in a timely and accurate manner.
• Review authorizations and documentation to ensure records are released only to authorized individuals.
• Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations, privacy standards, and company policies.
• Communicate professionally with patients, healthcare providers, attorneys, insurance companies, and other requestors regarding medical records requests.
• Manage incoming phone calls, faxes, and work queues while maintaining service level expectations.
• Scan, copy, fax, and electronically manage medical records and related documents.
• Accurately document all activities and correspondence related to record requests.
• Meet established productivity, utilization, and quality performance standards.
• Collaborate with team members while also working independently to manage assigned workload.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to operate office equipment including fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical records department, Release of Information (ROI), Health Information Management (HIM), or a related healthcare setting.
• Experience processing medical records requests and maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Familiarity with healthcare documentation, records management systems, and patient-facing communications.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Escondido, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
