Title Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting Compensation $180,000 - $200,000 + Bonus Location Lake Forest, CA 92630 (Onsite) Company Description Our publicly traded Manufacturing client is searching for a Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to partner with the VP Accounting & Finance and manage a small team. This individual will own all SEC reporting and technical accounting while having direct visibility to senior leadership. This is a high-impact role, focused on upgrading the finance function across reporting and the overall infrastructure. Their ideal candidate will be someone with SEC Reporting experience in the private sector, or someone coming out of Public Accounting with publicly traded clients. High impact position Casual work environment Responsibilities Own all technical accounting research, position memos, and company-wide accounting policy development, ensuring alignment with US GAAP and evolving regulatory standards Lead end-to-end SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q), driving continuous improvements in accuracy, completeness, and filing timelines Serve as the company's primary technical accounting resource on complex transactions, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), leases (ASC 842), and M&A purchase accounting Oversee the Corporate accounting function, including reviewing subordinate schedules and journal entries and providing guidance as needed Serve as liaison with auditors during quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SOX audits Manage the external audit relationship, coordinating deliverables, PBC lists, and audit committee materials to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process Design and maintain a strong internal controls environment (SOX 404), leading documentation, testing support, and remediation efforts across the finance organization Partner cross-functionally with Legal, FP&A, HR, and business leaders to assess the accounting implications of new business initiatives, contracts, and strategic transactions Prepare and present technical accounting analyses and report updates to the VP Accounting & Finance and the Audit Committee Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, establishing clear priorities and fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related degree Public Accounting experience with Publicly traded clients is required. (Big 4 or Mid-Tier Firms) CPA license is required. Experience as a SEC Reporting Manager or Sr. Manager is highly desired.
