Offset Pressroom Manager

Lead a modern, 5-press offset operation for one of Orange County’s top commercial printers. Westamerica Communications is a full-service commercial printer serving clients across Southern California, with wide format and lithographic capabilities under one roof. We’re looking for an experienced Offset Pressroom Manager to take ownership of our sheetfed pressroom — leading a team of 10 pressmen across two shifts and driving the performance of a well-equipped, modern press fleet.

✅ What You’ll Own:

· Full accountability for pressroom output: quality, throughput, makeready times, waste, and on-time delivery across two shifts

· Direct leadership of 10 press operators — scheduling, coaching, performance management, hiring, and training

· Color management and quality standards across sheetfed and UV printing, ensuring consistency from job to job and press to press

· Preventive maintenance planning and troubleshooting in partnership with service technicians to keep uptime high across a 5-press fleet

· Driving continuous improvement — reducing makeready time, minimizing waste, and improving OEE using lean manufacturing principles

· Close coordination with Prepress, Scheduling, Bindery, and Shipping to keep jobs moving on spec and on time

· Enforcing safety standards and maintaining a clean, well-run pressroom

· Partnering with plant leadership on capital planning, staffing needs, and shift structure as volume grows

Our Press Fleet:

o Heidelberg SM52 – 4-color

o Heidelberg SM74 – 8-color perfector

o Komori 240 – 40", 2-color perfector

o Komori LS640 – 40", 6-color

o Komori GL640 – 40", 6-color with UV coater, UV ink

✅ Expectations:

· 7+ years of hands-on offset pressroom experience, including UV printing and perfecting presses

· 3+ years directly supervising or managing a multi-shift press crew (8+ operators)

· Strong working knowledge of Heidelberg and/or Komori equipment

· Proven ability to manage color, registration, and quality standards under production deadlines

· Lean manufacturing experience — you know how to find and eliminate waste on the floor, not just talk about it

· A track record of developing operators and building bench strength across shifts

· Strong communication skills — you can talk equally well with a pressman on the floor and with ownership in a planning meeting

· G7 or similar color-management certification a plus
