Pay Rate $22.94 per hour Telecommute Status Onsite Job Overview Medical Material Specialist II (MMS II) performs clerical and physical tasks for all warehouse support service activities supporting the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Command’s (NMRLC) Expeditionary Medical System (EXMED) mission. Responsibilities include receiving, shipping, storing (stowing), selecting (picking) supply turn-in (disposal), packing (kitting and stuffing) or unpacking (downloading) and inventory of general or specialized material and equipment. The MMS will utilize the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) database, or Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) database, or other DoD authorized systems to accurately account for and process the Table of Allowances (TOA) which are also referred to as Authorized Medical Allowance Lists (AMALs) or Authorized Dental Allowance Lists (ADALs) comprising EXMEDS. Responsibilities Be proficient in the use of the DMLSS, HIMS or other authorized database of record for routine processes. Provide warehouse support pertaining to warehouse logistics. Duties include receiving, shipping, storing (stowing), selecting (picking) supply turn-in (disposal), packing (kitting and stuffing) or unpacking (downloading) and inventory of general or specialized material and equipment. Train workers in the safe and proper use of products and equipment to meet quality and safety standards. Train and assist workers in performing duties. Perform inventory and documentation of supply stock utilizing DMLSS or other military database of record. Adjust stock levels as directed and support excess or unserviceable material disposal processes. Review, stock, and re‑supply medical logistics items, including removing and replacing outdated or expired items from shelves or kitted EXMEDS. Perform quality control on transaction records and file documents appropriately and promptly. Research quality assurance messages utilizing DMLSS, or other military database of record. Review a wide variety of documents to ensure that the proper information has been included. Obtain missing information from supporting documents, supervisor, or specialist/analyst and resolve inconsistencies or discrepancies, deviations from general rules, or major omissions. Perform receiving duties to include, but not limited to, receiving, unloading, and processing incoming shipments. Check accompanying documentation against containers or packing labels. Follow established procedures in reporting over-, short- or damaged items. Open containers and remove dunnage and other packing materials. Segregate material according to material type (equipment, consumable, narcotic, pilferable item, HAZMAT, etc.). Based on information in the automated system, generate labels and routes and/or move material to staging areas or stow locations. Perform inventory control work, supporting a broad range of duties required to accomplish the mission of a large production, sustainment, and distribution center. Duties include counting types, quantities, and condition of items during annual inventories, location surveys, physical inventory, material handling, material examining and identifying, packing, operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and analyzing, evaluating, and revising command inventory. Perform platform stowing of material. The Government will provide equipment and material to be assigned to each EXMED platform. Material will be stowed by assigned EXMED platform in adjacent locations to facilitate rapid deployment. Perform Pick, Pack, Preserve, and Crate (PPP&C). Pack and repack a variety of items for kitting and shipping of EXMEDs, utilizing a wide variety of standard packing materials, methods, and techniques. Perform administrative duties such as word processing; receipt and completeness of data; correcting errors, modifying as required, and transmission of electronic mail; storing, retrieving, and maintaining electronic documents or files; entering data into a predefined spreadsheet or database. Be adept at general warehouse maintenance activities (warehouse cleanliness and aesthetics). Employees are responsible for their assigned sections/areas of the warehouse. Specialized experience shall include general supply activities, ordering, receiving, customer support, inventory management, assemblage management, warehousing, and operation of various materials handling equipment. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics or medical warehouse operations. Ability to train employees in proper departmental practices and procedures, including safety and proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment. Must be able to understand, read, and write in the English language. Mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Must be detail‑oriented and highly proficient individual that can adhere to published standards and guidance directed in local Standard Operating Procedures, Navy guidelines, and Department of Defense publications. Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment. Computer literacy and ability to look up and enter information using a computer. Minimal computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word. Ability to learn specialized software related to departmental Operations. Experience operating a forklift, Scan Gun, and other material handling equipment preferred. Communication skills to provide procedural and factual information, and respond to questions from customers, employees, and others. Customer service skills to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests and to appropriately handle more difficult matters. Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities. Demonstrated organization, problem‑solving and common‑sense skills. Education Requirements High School Diploma or GED Certificates or Licenses Required CAT Card Clearance Forklift Certification Valid Driver's License Physical and Special Requirements Ability to work at an accelerated pace under emergencies or operational demands. Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items. Utilizing a keyboard. Monitoring computer systems. May include viewing computer and detailed work requiring close vision. Maneuvering to and around equipment. Required to lift and carry weight over 45 pounds. Work is performed on hard surfaces. Work Environment Work is performed in an austere environment, such as a warehouse. May require walking to and from other nearby warehouses. Warehouse equipment can be found in each warehouse. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment during the duty day, such as steel‑toe shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, glasses, gloves, etc. May be exposed to extreme cold or heat.
