Billing Specialist IIMediaNews Group is seeking a Billing Specialist II to join our team. This position is responsible for billing processes for all properties (newspapers) owned by MediaNews Group. This includes, but is not limited to: rating, billing, custom contracts, special pricing, contract entry, and adjustments.Please Note: Although this is a remote position, candidates must reside in Colorado or Ohio.What you will do:For assigned properties (newspapers), generate advertising billing files, ensuring the accuracy of data prior to submissionPerform month-end processingBe a subject-matter expert in ad rating (Mactive system)Work "wrong rate" and "rating error" queues in Mactive, releasing ads to printReview the accuracy of contracts and rates entered by the SSCBe the key contact for local advertising departments for billing issuesTransmit statement files to Shoom for eInvoicingResearch and troubleshoot billing issues from the properties or internal questionsTrain new employees on the system and data entryBe responsible for testing and researching projects or system upgradesAssist with unapplied payments (adjustments)What you will bring:Accounting process and controls knowledgeAbility to read and comprehend written instructions (including process, policy, and procedure manuals), correspondence, and financial documentsDemonstrated ability to create Excel spreadsheets using formulas as neededAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization existsSelf-initiative, good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, team collaboration skills, and a customer-focused mindsetAssociate's degree or two years' experience within MNG required; Bachelor's degree in business and/or a combination of college education and experience preferredKnowledge of automated billing systems (Mactive and/or PBS system preferred)Benefits and Compensation:The hourly range is $20.50 - $21.50.
