Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 18:45 - 07:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Positive attitude with a focus on teamwork - Experience in MedSurg, Telemetry, and Step-Down care Description: Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a dynamic Progressive Care Unit. The unit specializes in ED decompression and enhanced patient throughput. This is not an overflow or holding unit. We receive admitted patients directly from the emergency department. Responsibilities include completing admission assessments, medication reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders. Patients on this unit present with a wide variety of diagnoses. A well-rounded nursing background will be instrumental in providing effective care. Charge Nurse experience or a willingness to consider this role is appreciated. Minimal bedside procedures are performed in this environment. Dress code includes navy blue or white scrubs, with appropriate outerwear if needed. Staffing is typically 1-2 CNAs based on volume, both day and night. The goal is to maintain a free charge model, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. We float to other units as necessary based on skill set. Additional opportunities available in telemetry oversight and as transport nurses for higher acuity patients. Most travel nurses request extensions due to positive experiences within the unit. The team is dedicated to enhancing the patient and family experience while reducing overall length of stay.
