About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Stepdown experience Telemetry experience Description: Primary patient population includes cardiovascular and vascular surgery. Patient types include open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, and abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. The unit also receives overflow medical cardiology patients with various diagnoses. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds. There are approximately 100 staff members on the unit. Patient ratios are 1:5 for registered nurses and 1:13 for patient care technicians. Key equipment includes IV pumps and various lifts. Familiarity with electronic medical records is required. Candidates should have experience managing epidurals, chest tubes, tube feedings, and cardiac medications. A team player is preferred who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is flexible. Weekend work consists of a minimum of 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule. No on-call duties are required. Candidates should be adaptable to working holidays as necessary.
