Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive mental health care for inpatient adult/geriatric psych facility and outpatient clinical settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders through individualized care plans.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Inpatient Settings:

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management and psychotherapy.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including medical doctors, nurse practitioners, social workers, and nursing staff.
• Provide crisis intervention and stabilization for acute psychiatric cases.
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.

 

Outpatient Settings:

• Perform initial patient assessments and follow-up consultations.
• Prescribe and manage medications, monitoring for side effects and efficacy.
• Provide individual, group, and family therapy.
• Coordinate care with primary care physicians and other specialists.
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.

 

Clinical Settings:

• Conduct clinical research and stay updated on the latest psychiatric treatments and practices.
• Supervise and train medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records, adhering to privacy and confidentiality standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
• Engage in continuous professional development and education.

 

Qualifications:

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
• Valid medical license to practice in Mississippi.
• Experience in inpatient, outpatient, and clinical settings preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Proficiency in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy techniques.
• Crisis management and intervention abilities.

Work Environment:

• Work primarily in outpatient clinic, and DPU of Beacham Memorial Hospital.
• Full-time and part-time positions available, with some on-call responsibilities.
