Alternative Education Teacher English Language Arts Spanish & Advisory

Creekside Community High School is seeking an English Language Arts and Spanish Language teacher to teach high school ELA Spanish language courses and alternative middle school humanities while also serving as an Advisor in our small relational alternative school community. At Creekside literacy and language learning are grounded in voice identity communication culture critical thinking and connection. We are looking for a teacher who can help students read deeply write clearly express themselves with confidence and understand language as a tool for belonging power creativity and participation in the world. This teacher will work with Creekside learners across multiple settings which may include high school English Language Arts Spanish language instruction interdisciplinary humanities reading and writing support project-based learning and alternative middle school humanities. The ideal candidate can design accessible engaging culturally responsive learning experiences for students with varied academic histories language backgrounds strengths and needs. Like all Creekside teachers this teacher will also serve as an Advisor. Advisors are the primary relational anchor for a small group of students. They build relationships with students and families monitor progress support attendance and engagement and help students plan for graduation future pathways and personal growth. This position requires a valid Oregon teaching license with appropriate endorsements including English Language Arts and Spanish or the ability to obtain appropriate Oregon licensure prior to assignment. Salary: $52755- $106259 (Based on 190 day contract- 1.0 FTE)

• Tigard TualatinSchool District pays the 6% employee PERS contribution upon eligibility.

GENERAL DUTIES SUMMARY:

Classroom teachers provide instruction to their assigned classroom or within their specific area of expertise working with the curriculum designed by the school district. They work directly with students school staff building and district administrators to meet the educational goals of the district. We are looking for someone with a passion for social justice who will empower students to achieve a high level.

• Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Education
• Proven track record of work with at-risk student population required
• Teaches classes following District approved curriculum
• Conducts conferences and communicates with parents as necessary
• Follows District standards including reporting concerns abuse and infractions of student handbook policies
• Works effectively and collaborates with the building administrator and work team or grade level
• Demonstrates effective classroom management techniques
• Understand and complies with Oregon Teachers Stands of Competent and Ethical Performance

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
