Overview Day - 10 Hour (United States of America). Our team is looking for an excellent communicator able to work with patients with a variety of neurosurgical spinal disorders while keeping the entire team informed of critical patient care information. You will see patients in an ambulatory clinic, respond to patient phone messages and electronic communications along with a registered nurse, order and evaluate radiologic exams (MRI, CT, X‑ray), laboratory tests, and place referrals. You will refill postoperative medications, work with our schedulers to arrange treatments, and support the Neurosurgery attending in clinic. In addition to supporting the attending, you will see follow‑up patients in an independent clinic for suture removal, treatment follow‑up, pre‑operative and postoperative visits. In short, we are looking for an empathic and efficient nurse practitioner with outstanding communication skills to join our high‑visibility, highly motivated team. What you will do See patients in an ambulatory clinic and respond to patient phone messages and electronic communications. Order and evaluate radiologic exams (MRI, CT, X‑ray), laboratory tests, and place referrals; refill postoperative medications. Collaborate with schedulers to arrange treatments and support the Neurosurgery attending in clinic. Provide follow‑up care in an independent clinic for suture removal, treatment follow‑up, and pre‑operative and postoperative visits. Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic complaints, perform physical exams, and maintain health status per standardized procedures. Order and assess diagnostic studies, laboratory tests, imaging, and therapy services. Administer, order, furnish, and prescribe medications according to protocol. Collect specimens for laboratory testing and manage therapy orders. Obtain informed consent, facilitate hospital admissions and discharges, and complete required paperwork. Enroll patients in investigational studies approved by the IRB and order necessary tests and medications. Assist the supervising physician as an RN First Assistant in the operating room, adhering to standardized procedures and regulations. Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and community, recognizing urgent needs and initiating life‑saving procedures. Coordinate inpatient and outpatient care, collaborate with providers, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies. Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and provide patient teaching and counseling. Perform any other duties as assigned. Education Qualifications Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college or university (NPs hired prior to March12012 are not subject to this requirement). Graduate of an NP program accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) – State licensure and/or Compact state licensure. Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Licensure and NP furnishing number. BLS – Basic Life Support.
