Communications Intern

The Communications Intern will support key storytelling and marketing efforts that help advance Community Action House’s mission and connect with our broader community. This role involves drafting various forms of content, while helping maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across platforms. The Communications Intern will assist in monthly communications to program participants, support tracking campaign success, and support the creation of on‑brand graphics and campaign materials. This internship offers meaningful nonprofit communications experience while providing opportunities to strengthen your writing, marketing, design, and storytelling skills in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment. As a part‑time internship position, this role offers 10‑15 hours a week with flexible hours to fit a school schedule. Responsibilities & Essential Duties Content Creation Draft and edit press releases, blogs, guest stories, and newsletter content that reflects Community Action House’s voice and values. Support the development of eNewsletters and email campaigns. Assist in the design and creation of communication materials in line with the organization’s visual branding. General Communications Support Participate in brainstorming sessions, team meetings, and Communications Calendar planning. Help track analytics for email engagement to assess impact and optimize future content. Provide support as needed for fundraising campaigns and donor events. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to write clearly, concisely, and in a compelling voice tailored for different audiences and platforms. Experience creating both long‑form content (blogs, press releases) and concise, compelling short‑form content for social media. Experience in graphic design. Access to consistent and reliable transportation to travel between locations. Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people. Willingness and interest in continuous learning and adaptation based on your professional interests and organizational needs. A high standard of performance and integrity, and ability to lead by example to foster a positive workplace culture. Proficiency in clear and effective written and verbal communication, and ability to develop trusting professional relationships. Education & Experience High School Diploma required; some college preferred. No supervisory experience required. Bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred. Position Details Position Type: Part‑time Internship Hours: 10‑15 hours per week (flexible within school schedule) Term: September 2026 – May 2027 Location: Food Club & Opportunity Hub Reports to: Communications Manager Compensation: $13.73 – $15.00 per hour Overtime Status: non‑exempt Supervision Received: Specific direction; detailed work instructions or guidance for performing repetitive tasks. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Physical Requirements Frequently work in a stationary position. Frequently move about work area. Occasionally use hands/fingers to handle or feel. Occasionally work outside in variable weather conditions. Occasionally push, pull, and lift up to 30 pounds. Other Factors Access to consistent and reliable transportation. Evening hours occasionally, on a pre‑scheduled basis. Weekend hours occasionally, on a pre‑scheduled basis.
