Area Health Information Specialist - Dallas Texas - Hybrid

Position Highlights Hybrid role in Dallas, TX Full time, Monday‑Friday 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. Release of Information processing: logging and fulfilling all request types for multiple sites and EMRs High‑volume environment Processing medical record requests such as insurance requests, DDS requests, workers‑comp requests, and subpoenas Documenting information in multiple platforms using two computer monitors Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) Preferred Skills Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology Familiarity with different EHR and billing systems Experience working with subpoenas Benefits Comprehensive onsite/virtual training program followed by job shadowing with an assigned mentor Company equipment provided (computer, monitor, virtual phone, etc.) Full benefits: PTO, health, vision, and dental insurance, 401(k) savings plan, tuition assistance Responsibilities Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information. Maintain knowledge of company and facility software. Adhere to the company’s and customer facilities’ code of conduct and policies. Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and/or fluctuating volumes. Assist with additional work duties or responsibilities as needed. Apply medical privacy regulations to guard against unauthorized disclosure. Manage patient health records and safeguard them in compliance with HIPAA standards. Prepare new patient charts by gathering documents from paper or electronic health records. Assemble medical records in standard order, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Create digital images of paperwork to be stored in the electronic medical record. Respond to requests for patient records, both within the facility and from external sources, retrieving and transmitting them appropriately. Answer inbound/outbound calls, assist with patient walk‑ins, and handle administrative duties such as faxes, mail, and data entry. Meet productivity expectations outlined for the specific site. Schedule pick‑ups as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Ability to commute between locations as needed. Comfortable with phones, fax machine, printers, and general office equipment. Professional verbal and written communication skills in English. Detail and quality oriented with accurate and compliant information for medical records. Strong data entry skills. Must be able to work with minimum supervision, responding to changing priorities and role needs. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and respond quickly in a fast‑paced environment. Bonus Points Experience in a healthcare environment. Previous production/metric‑based work experience. In‑person customer service experience. Ability to build relationships with on‑site clients and customers. Comfortable bringing new ideas, process improvement suggestions, and feedback to internal stakeholders.
