Job Summary As a Front Desk Receptionist for Axis Community Health, the main responsibilities include greeting patients and visitors, directing them to the appropriate location and services, and providing courteous and helpful assistance. It is very important to maintain client privacy and confidentiality, register patients following agency protocols, and determine their financial eligibility for services. Completing forms accurately and documenting information according to Axis Community Health protocols is also required. Additionally, providing clinical support services for the assigned department and assisting the clinical team as requested falls within the scope of this role. Participation in staff meetings, training events, and other assigned duties and projects may be required. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of experience as a receptionist in a healthcare setting preferred. Epic experience a plus. Excellent Customer Service skills. Knowledge of patient billing procedures, insurance verification. English/Spanish bilingual preferred. Strong analytical, employee relations, and interpersonal skills. Excellent writing, business communication, editing, and proofreading skills. Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds. Proactive, self‑motivated and able to work independently as well as on a team with the ability to exercise sound independent judgment. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and a professional demeanor and must positively represent the organization at all times. Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships. Ability to organize and set priorities and be able to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate. Must be able to be at work regularly and on time. Must be a dynamic self‑starter with demonstrated ability to work independently or in a group setting. A can‑do attitude with attention to detail. Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM with minimal errors. Must have good computer skills using Microsoft Office and the ability to use Axis departmental systems. Must be able to use office equipment (i.e. copier, fax, etc.) Essential Duties / Responsibilities Greet patients and agency visitors, direct all individuals to the appropriate location and services and be courteous, polite and helpful to the public and clients at all times when representing Axis Community Health. Respect and maintain privacy and dignity of agency clients assuring client confidentiality at all times per HIPAA regulations. Register patients according to agency protocols and schedule appointments according to established procedures. Determine financial status of patients and their eligibility for Axis Community Health services. Assist patients in completing appropriate forms accurately, and document all information according to Axis Community Health protocols. Provide clinical support services for the assigned department/provider. Working within the scope of a Front Desk Receptionist, assist all members of the clinical team as requested. Maintain the assigned department and ensure that all equipment is in working order, that the area is clean and well‑maintained and that sufficient supplies are available for the office and clinical operations. Maintain the cleanliness of all department and patient areas before, during and after clinic. Participate in staff meetings, attend other meeting and training events as assigned. May be required to perform other related duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned. Additional Information This is a temporary position with an expected duration of six (6) months. Employment is expected to conclude at the end of the assignment unless extended based on organizational needs or by mutual agreement. However, this position is at‑will, and the duration of employment may be modified or ended at any time, with or without notice, in accordance with applicable law. Occasional travel to other Axis health centers and other occasional travel will be required. Equipment Frequently required to use repetitive motion of hands and feet to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, copier, and other office equipment for extended periods. Sensory Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and signage. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with staff etc. Must be able to speak clearly, understand normal communication, and be understood. Must be able to see clearly and have the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships to see objects where and as they actually are. Cognitive Must be able to analyze the information being received, count accurately, concentrate and focus on the given task, summarize the information being received, accurately interpret written data, synthesize information from multiple sources, write summaries as needed, interpret written or verbal instructions, and recognize social or professional behavioral cues. Environmental Conditions Frequent exposure to varied office (medical clinic/office) environments. Rare exposure to dust and loud noises.
