Customer Service Specialist

JOB SUMMARY : As a customer service specialist in the Business office, you will be responsible for assisting patients with inquiries related to medical billing, insurance claims, and pricing inquiries. This role is critical in ensuring accurate billing records and resolving any issues promptly. You will act as a liaison between patients and the medical billing & coding departments. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for providing excellent customer service to all patients of Slocum-Dickson Medical Group Business Office, either in person or via telephone Responsible for ensuring all billing related concerns are addressed promptly and accurately Resolve billing discrepancies and issues Communicate effectively with the billing and coding departments Document all patient interactions and resolutions in EMR software Assist with mailing business office correspondence, patient receipts, claim forms and records as needed Responsible for ordering office supplies such as paper and toner and ensuring each fax machine, copier, and printer are filled and operational Provide coverage for support staff in their absence Attends meetings as requested Works overtime when requiredAdheres to the policies and procedures of SDMG including Incident Reporting Attends all required in-service programs and employee informational meetings. Complies with established SDMG attendance policy. Provides proper notification for absences and scheduled time-off in accordance with SDMG policy. Knowledgeable of individual responsibilities and duties pertaining to SDMG Demonstrates knowledge of proper body mechanics to be used in the work setting May be exposed to hazardous drugs Attends OSHA and annual training upon initial employee orientation and annually thereafter Other duties as assigned to support staff as determined by the needs of the Business Office Requirements RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS: Ability to work well with colleagues and maintain professional conduct and high level of customer service with those persons in which contact is made, either in person or over the phone. Education/Experience/Knowledge High School Diploma/GED Preferred 3+ years' work experience in Patient Access or Customer Service. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires sitting, standing bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 20 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment such as computer, fax, calculators and telephone. Requires normal hearing and vision. #J-18808-Ljbffr
