Inputs schedule information into computer system and distributes to appropriate personnel. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Receives request from physicians, physician offices and/or Emergency Department to schedule operating rooms for specific patients. Prepares tentative schedule for operating rooms twenty-four hours in advance, considering time requirements of the surgical procedure and availability of medical staff/surgical personnel, surgical instruments and supplies to ensure efficient operating room usage. Checks physician privileges. Enters schedule information into computer system and distributes schedule to surgeons, surgical residents, anesthesiologists, anesthetists and other appropriate personnel. Adjusts schedule, as necessary, to accommodate emergencies or cancellations and notifies appropriate parties of changes. Maintains records regarding surgical boarding assists in maintenance of other records, as assigned. May perform a variety of additional duties such as typing, surgical boarding, answering telephones and monitoring/routing fax messages in a timely manner. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Up to one year additional technical or specialty training, preferred. One to two years related experience in a hospital or surgical office setting, including computer experience.
