Job Overview Professional nurse uses the nursing process in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of a diverse patient population at Jefferson Health. Assists in leading the daily operations of a specific unit, acts as a resource, lead, and clinical role model for the patient care team, and advances and oversees patient‑care standards for the designated shift. Facilitates and coordinates patient‑care delivery and flow through the continuum of care, while supporting nursing professional development, Magnet, and Shared Governance through participation and mentoring on councils and the Clinical Ladder program. Responsibilities Interact with co‑workers, visitors, and other staff in alignment with Jefferson values. Recognize patients and their family/designated care partners, providing safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on patients' personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs. Communicate with and support the interprofessional team, patient, family, and designated care partners. Serve as a clinical resource regarding policies, procedures, patient standards, performance improvement, and risk management issues. Collaborate with medical staff to facilitate consistency of interdisciplinary plans of care and ensure quality patient care. Assess patient needs and make care recommendations based on the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs, age, and functional status. Facilitate timely patient throughput optimization for all phases of care, including admissions, transfers, and discharge optimization of patients on the designated unit. Participate in plan‑of‑care rounds as indicated by service and unit protocols. Provide Smart Square schedules and on‑call schedules if applicable. Follow up appropriately and effectively resolve customer and physician issues and complaints. Monitor staff schedules to ensure adequate staffing to meet patient‑care needs and maintain quality patient care. Authorize overtime or scheduling changes to fill shifts as necessary. Complete payroll in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and provide volume adjustments to reflect variances in staffing needs within Smart Square. Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to evaluate, maintain, and improve patient‑care team member performance. Assist in implementing changes in clinical practice and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice to ensure compliance with organization, department, and unit‑specific goals. Support nursing professional development, Magnet, and Shared Governance through participation and mentoring on councils and the Clinical Ladder program. Provide patient care support when necessary. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; BSN or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire strongly preferred. PA RN license required. BLS certification required. 3+ years of experience as an RN in a maternity unit. Schedule Shift: Workday Night (United States of America).
