Maintenance Technician

2nd/3rd Shift Maintenance TechnicianThe Maintenance Technician will support a fast-paced manufacturing and packaging facility by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of industrial equipment and systems. This role focuses on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, ensuring reliable operation of conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, fillers, and packaging equipment. The technician will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose equipment issues using blueprints and schematics, and calibrate sensors and production instrumentation to minimize downtime and support overall operational efficiency. The role requires a strong commitment to workplace safety, GMP compliance, food safety standards, and continuous improvement while working closely with production teams.Responsibilities:Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, fillers, blenders, and packaging equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to support accurate installation, maintenance, and repair activities.Calibrate sensors, instrumentation, and production equipment to ensure accurate performance and reliable operation.Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions before failures occur.Maintain, repair, and service conveyors and packaging equipment to support consistent production flow and product quality.Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support maintenance planning and continuous improvement.Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and follow all safety and EHS requirements during maintenance and repair tasks.Collaborate with production teams to coordinate maintenance work, resolve equipment issues, and support efficient plant operations.Support GMP and food safety requirements by maintaining clean, safe, and compliant equipment and work areas.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and improve maintenance processes.Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner and prioritize work to support production schedules.Essential Skills:At least 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience in an industrial environment.Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Strong experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of production equipment.Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and packaging equipment.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics accurately.Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing conveyors, packaging equipment, motors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, and fillers.Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and food safety requirements in a production environment.Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) experience and strong understanding of energy control procedures.Strong safety and EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) compliance focus.Effective troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.High School Diploma or equivalent education.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing and packaging facility.Familiarity with calibration of sensors and production instrumentation.Experience working with power systems and industrial utilities.Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with production and maintenance teams.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and reliability.Comfort working around moving machinery, dust, vibration, fumes, and airborne particles.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond quickly to equipment issues.Interest in continuous improvement and willingness to learn new technologies and processes.Why Work Here?Employees benefit from a comprehensive total rewards package that supports their financial, physical, and personal well-being. The technician may occasionally work in extreme temperatures, high humidity, and outdoor conditions as needed to support plant operations. The position involves physical, on-the-floor work and close interaction with production teams in a highly operational, safety-conscious setting.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sycamore, IL.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $30.67 - $37.00/hr.
