Masons should be OSHA trained and certified with a good understanding of safety procedures. Masons need to be self-motivated, knowing the task at hand and accomplishing it. Mason Responsibilities: Mix and prepare cement, bricks, and mortar for structures Cut and shape materials to meet the job’s specifications Assist in the creation of stairs, chimneys, walls, frames, walkways, and other structures Interpret technical drawings and follow their instructions Do your part to maintain our tools and workspaces Lift and carry bricks, concrete blocks, and stones from place to place Assist with other tasks as asked of you by your supervisor/foreman including those typically done by a mason tender Mason Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Completion of a mason apprenticeship or previous experience in a similar role, 3 years + Physical ability to perform manual labor for most of the day Familiarity with commonly-used masonry terms, techniques, tools, and materials Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team Lift an 80 lb. bag of mortar OSHA certification Must have reliable transportation Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
