Business Analyst

Role Description

As a Business Analyst at Halo, you will independently lead business analysis efforts within a project or product ecosystem. You will act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, ensuring that what is built and delivered consistently brings value to the business, remains aligned with strategic priorities, and supports the overall product vision. This role combines deep requirement management expertise with product strategy thinking, backlog ownership, and cross-functional collaboration. You will foster strong partnerships with Product Owners, Delivery Leads, and Technical Leads, ensuring smooth execution, proactive change management, and alignment between business needs and delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Alignment
  • Map and manage stakeholder relationships, fostering a strategic partnership to drive alignment and long-term value.
  • Lead requirement gathering and clarification sessions, ensuring high-level business needs are translated into well-understood requirements.
  • Define, refine, and maintain the roadmap, aligning scope and priorities with stakeholder expectations and the product vision.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather insights, anticipate dependencies, and refine roadmap priorities, ensuring business and technical alignment.
  • Anticipate dependencies, risks, and opportunities across initiatives, acting as a strategic partner for stakeholders.
  • Influence prioritization decisions by framing business value and long-term impact.
• Scope Clarity & Product Vision Alignment
  • Ensure scope boundaries are clearly understood, documented, and communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Own and maintain the product roadmap, ensuring it is continuously updated to reflect scope delivery, dependencies, and business priorities.
  • Proactively address blockers related to business needs and technical constraints, while collaborating with the Delivery Lead on priorities and scheduling considerations.
  • Align requirements and scope decisions with the overarching product vision, ensuring delivery remains consistent with expected outcomes.
  • Break down high-level goals into actionable product increments, balancing feasibility with business value.
  • Surface and propose opportunities to enhance product value while ensuring alignment with the agreed scope and product vision.
  • Document business processes and workflows to ensure shared understanding of current and future states.
• Backlog Management & Execution Support
  • Own backlog refinement and prioritization, maintaining a healthy backlog that is well-defined, structured, and sequenced by value and dependencies.
  • Define and document epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria, enabling a clear understanding for development and QA teams.
  • Facilitate refinement sessions, fostering shared understanding and alignment across teams.
  • Ensure the completeness, consistency, and accuracy of business, functional, and non-functional requirements while minimizing rework.
  • Lead sprint planning sessions, ensuring priorities and requirements are clearly understood.
  • Provide ongoing support to development teams, clarifying requirements, unblocking issues, and refining scope as needed.
  • Validate that delivered work fulfills the defined acceptance criteria, reducing gaps and the need for rework.
  • Support QA during testing by validating that test scenarios cover business and functional requirements.
  • Prepare and host product demonstrations with the PO and stakeholders to confirm that requirements have been satisfied.
• Requirements Governance & Change Management
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of requirements, ensuring they are complete, consistent, traceable, and continuously updated throughout delivery.
  • Establish and maintain clear documentation standards, and maintain centralized requirement repositories for traceability and accessibility.
  • Lead impact analysis for proposed changes, evaluating business implications, technical feasibility, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Facilitate decision-making around changes, providing stakeholders with clear options, trade-offs, and consequences.
  • Keep scope and requirements aligned with business priorities and product vision, preventing uncontrolled scope creep.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, development tasks, and test cases, enabling full validation of what is delivered.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for requirement-related clarity, resolving conflicts or ambiguities proactively.
  • Provide support post-release to ensure business requirements are fully integrated into operations and address emerging issues.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in business analysis methodologies and frameworks, aligned with the Halo Business Analysis standards.
• Proven experience in defining, managing, and executing product or project roadmaps, balancing business priorities, dependencies, and technical feasibility.
• Expertise in backlog management and prioritization techniques to optimize value delivery.
• Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.
• Ability to write and refine epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria, ensuring clear, actionable requirements.
• Experience in impact analysis and stakeholder mapping to drive informed decision-making.
• Proficiency in collaboration and documentation platforms, requirement management tools, and process modeling tools.
• Ability to create and interpret complex business models, process diagrams, and system interactions.
• Ability to understand technical details of the products, including system architecture, integrations, and key dependencies to ensure informed decision-making.
• Experience in working with cross-functional teams to manage dependencies between business requirements and technical constraints.
• Ability to work with technical teams to identify trade-offs between implementation complexity and business value.
• Familiarity with security and compliance requirements, ensuring backlog items account for relevant regulations and best practices.
• Ability to design or write basic test cases to support validation of requirements (desirable).
