Multilingual Education Teacher ECE-2 2026-2027 (Northeast Campus)

Highline Academy Teacher - Northeast Campus Reporting directly to the campus principal, the teaching team is the heart of the organization, bringing the mission of fostering a diverse community of learners to life. We expect our teachers to be caring about the whole child, excellent planners, strong and nurturing classroom managers, and collaborative partners with teammates and families. Good communication skills, dedication to making a difference for each child, and a growth mindset are essential. Position Schedule: Coordinators are paid year‑round on a salary. Their student contact days (176) plus professional development and parent conference days total an 189‑day work year. Teachers are expected to be on campus ready for students by 7:45 am, to stay until 4:00 pm during school days and until 4:30 pm on Fridays for early release, and to participate in two weeks of summer professional development. Reports To: Campus Principal Highline Academy provides a diverse and inclusive learning environment. Students come from fifty countries, speak 26 different languages, and represent a wide range of socio‑economic backgrounds. The school offers a robust liberal arts program and a strong character education initiative called Reach, encouraging students to “Reach Out,” “Reach In,” and “Reach Up.” Major Responsibilities Create a Positive Classroom Culture and Climate Practice Effective Classroom Management Plan and implement Masterful Content Delivery Practice High‑Impact Instructional Moves Demonstrate Essential Knowledge of Students and Use of Data Demonstrate Effective Collaboration and Engagement with students and colleagues Demonstrate thoughtful reflection, learning and development Supports the MLE team Effectively coordinate and comply with the district via the MLE Director MLE Teacher Responsibilities Collaborate with grade‑level peers to provide a rigorous yet supportive curriculum for every student qualifying for MLE supports. Use data to monitor student learning, determine grouping, and inform lesson planning. Participate in data teams, reflect on student progress, and support other teachers’ data interpretation. Meet at least weekly with the team to co‑plan lessons and units. Teach assigned classes, groups, or programs and maintain accurate attendance and grades in the school LMS. Provide Teaching Assistants with appropriate assignments and classroom guidance. Build positive relationships, set high expectations, and manage classes with proactive systems and rituals. Seek additional support from SIT team, administration, or other staff when needed. Serve as a point of contact for student‑family communication, including home newsletters, volunteer invitations, phone calls, and meetings. Encourage family attendance at biannual conferences and participate in at least three evening or weekend events, such as music performances, Cultural Fair, and Fall Festival. Plan and lead at least one family event per year, such as a parent education meeting or student demonstration of learning. Attend all assigned professional development and serve on at least one school or community committee. Qualifications Valid teaching credential appropriate to their assignment. Teaching experience appropriate to the assignment. Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the Highline mission. Highly qualified under No Child Left Behind specifications. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Minimum Physical Requirements Ability to walk quickly, bend, kneel, crouch, sit, stand, and hold with one or both hands. Ability to lift up to 40 lb without difficulty. Maintain appropriate demeanor and professionalism when working with children and adults. Capacity to sit for extended periods during group training.
