Shipping Clerk

Position Purpose: Prepare shipments, accept deliveries and move packages from one area to another and distribute large pieces of office equipment such as computer components and furniture. Sort incoming and outgoing mail and packages for distribution including Help Desk repair/servicing shipments.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of shipping and receiving, mail processing and/or general office/administrative experience. Experience with Microsoft Office applications and the internet. Must be flexible and able to use discretion when dealing with confidential mail, co-workers and customers. Working knowledge of US Government Client and FedEx procedures and regulations strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pick up and move quantities of computer equipment, furniture, and other office equipment from office to office or building to building using carts and other small moving equipment.
• Distribute and collect office mail, packages, supplies, handouts, storage boxes and computer hardware.
• Examine outgoing mail for appearance and proper addressing, and seal envelopes by hand or machine.
• Stamp outgoing mail by hand or with postage meter, and weigh mail to determine that postage is correct.
• Process and maintain records of certified mail, registered mail, express delivery mail and packages.
• Manage requests via phone, email or in person for office supplies, mail, overnight delivery and equipment repair/service requests.

Team culture: We are a team of 4 pharmacists, 4 technicians, and 2 shippers. We work very closely to fulfill specialty prescription orders to meet the needs of our patients and prior to our pick ups from FedEx and UPS by end of day. The reason for this request is due to the departure of one of our full time shipping coordinators, to fulfill business needs and ensure we are servicing all of our patients needs.

Typical Day in the Role

Daily schedule & OT expectations: Assists in shipping by using the correct pack outs for refrigerated or ambient medications. Ensures order pick ticket matches shipping label to ensure accuracy of order. Prepares coolers, ensures all gel packs are restocked daily. Verifies stock of all shipping supplies and alerts supervisor of any items needing reorder. Assists with unloading of supply orders and restocking of supplies. Efficiently transports carts of completed orders to couriers upon their arrivals. Assists with loading/unloading of drug orders from couriers.

Years of experience required: Must haves: Previous experience as a shipper. Nice to haves: Previous experience using a pallet jack, previous experience shipping cold chain items. Disqualifiers: Performance indicators: Accuracy ensuring orders are shipped accurately to the correct patient using the correct pack out and the correct shipmodes to ensure patient's receive their life saving medication safely and appropriately. Being a team player assisting others in the department whenever needed.

Top 3 must-have hard skills:

• Proficiency in typing and ability to quickly learn shipping software
• Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
