Registered Nurse RN Cardiovascular PCU

This full‑time day shift position requires 3 shifts per week (7am–7:30pm) with rotating weekends and holidays. Join the Surgical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Banner University Medical Center‑Phoenix—a cardiac‑focused environment that prepares nurses for future roles in ICU, ED, OR, and other critical‑care settings. We’re looking for experienced PCU nurses with backgrounds in telemetry, ICU, home health, skilled nursing, medical/surgical or other acute/critical‑care settings. As a Surgical PCU Registered Nurse, you will provide care for patients with vascular, cardio‑thoracic surgical, heart transplantation, heart failure, LVAD, and TAH conditions. You will collaborate with nursing, physicians, and therapy teams and may participate in the Nursing Clinical Ladder Program and teaching activities. Compensation includes an 18% night shift differential and a flat $3 per hour weekend differential. Sign‑on bonus requires a 24‑month commitment. Weekend and holiday coverage is rotating. Core Functions Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Develop individualized, measurable plans of care with patient and family input, and revise as needed in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Provide direct patient care, coordinate, delegate, and supervise the health‑care team, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Monitor patient and family responses to care and teaching, evaluate progress toward goals, and adjust the plan of care as necessary. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record reflecting objective data, interventions, and treatment responses. Deliver evidence‑based care and participate in research activities and facility leadership initiatives; support education and orientation of staff. Actively pursue quality improvement, participate in professional organizations, and support equitable, safe patient outcomes. When applicable, supervise staff and manage department workflow, interacting across all levels of staff and external partners. Minimum Qualifications Current RN license in state of practice (or temporary/interim/compact RN license). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. One year of acute‑care hospital RN experience in a specialty area within the past 12 months. Experience in an acute‑care setting, including ICU, telemetry, or similar. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Professional certification (e.g., RN‑BC, CCN). Additional education or experience in acute or critical‑care settings.
