Workforce Development Director

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Workforce Development Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the organization's workforce development programing. In addition, the Workforce Development Director will collaborate with club and school sites to establish an environment that facilitates: 1) employability of teen Club members, 2) career counseling, job readiness and job placement services, and 3) understanding financial responsibilities and independence. The Workforce Development Director makes certain that activities meet the workforce development programming standards, goals, and objectives. The Workforce Development Director will work closely with Club leadership to ensure the success of the Club's workforce development program.

Responsibilities

KEY ROLES: (Essential Job Responsibilities) Strategic Planning, Program Development, and Implementation • Develop and implement an annual program planning process, including annual program objectives. • Oversee program evaluations and monthly reports. • Set standards and goals to meet grant deliverables and meet reporting deadlines. • Identify, propose, and plan for changes in the workforce development programming arising from member's needs. • Compile monthly program statistical reports reflecting all activities, attendance, and participation. • Keep the VP of Teen Services advised of activities and needs. • Plan and coordinate opportunities for a variety of guest speakers to attend the Club and share their career pathway experiences, off-site workforce experience and community events (e.g., fairs, job shadow events, workplace tours). • Identify local organizations that need skilled employees; help develop a talent pipeline to benefit both Club teens and local employers

Leadership• In collaboration with Area/Club Directors and Site Coordinators allocate and monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. • Identify, plan, implement and support training and development opportunities for workforce development programming, volunteers, and staff. • Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdown of daily participation figures, notable achievements, and any problems/issues. • Ensure productive and effective performance by all workforce development team members Finance • In conjunction with site staff make recommendations for expenditures to purchase program supplies and equipment Partnership Development • Develop and manage collaborative partnerships with corporations, civic groups, and social agencies within the community. • Maintain relations, promote, and stimulate membership within BGCT sites. • Build a network of stakeholders and partners who can provide knowledge, skills development, and experiential learning opportunities for members to help them secure employment opportunities. Key Relationships • Maintain close, daily contact with workforce development team to interpret and explain organization mission, program objectives, to guarantee a continuous quality improvement process. • Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize are of program focus• Assist with teen recruitment initiatives to increase participation in the Club's workforce development program Additional Responsibilities • Oversee special programs and/or events, and/or participate in the implementation of other activities as necessary. • Consult with parents concerning member issues. • Other duties as assigned General BGCT Expectations:• Healthy Behavior Modeling – Teaching youth and teens the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle is a BGCT priority. Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge Required

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
• 2-3 years working in a Boys & Girls Club or similar environment.
• Must be able to work flexible schedule.

• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in undefined environment.
• Strong interest in workforce and impacting members post-secondary options
• Thorough knowledge of youth development philosophy.
• Demonstrated ability to work in communities where diverse populations reside.

• Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, and the recruitment and retention of members.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff.
• Ability to deal effectively with members discipline problems.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Meet BGCT insurance motor vehicle requirements

ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS Tasks are regularly performed in an office environment with occasional exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, and temperature and noise extremes. Drive a 15-passenger van

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Tasks that involve the ability to exert physical effort, typically involving some combination of standing for long periods of time, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds.
