Dual-language fluency—building on the first language of Spanish while supporting proficiency in English—utilizes best practices to meet our priority funding goal. Responsibilities Teach students to read and write in Spanish. Provide the instructional program for students to reflect the goals of a Dual-Language Program. Ensure consistent discipline practices and integration with the classroom instruction. Participate in the monthly RTI (Response to Intervention) meeting for assigned grade levels. Meet weekly with grade-level classroom teachers to support parallel skills in two languages. Assist with standardized test administration or translation as requested by Head of School. Communicate with parents to ensure a cooperative family partnership in accord with the school's mission and to increase student achievement. Participate in and adopt school-based professional learning, innovations, and technology advances. Invest in personal and professional development through on-going training in accord with an approved professional development plan. Provide letters of reference for high school admissions process (grade 8 students) as requested. Experience and Qualifications Fluent in Spanish and English. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education or appropriate content subject area or Emergency License. 3 years' experience preferred. Massachusetts Certification in Foreign Language Instruction at the levels matching position openings. Strong commitment to education reform initiatives, particularly raising educational equity for low-income and linguistic minority students. Experience teaching urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferred. Support the two-way language goals of the school. Ability to work independently and as a team member of the grade-level staff and school community. Commitment to the specific mission and goals of LFDCS. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (oral and written). Demonstrated interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills. Schedule Full-Time, School-Year Position Reports to Head of School Job Requirements At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
