Posted At Campus/Center Campus/Center Calmar or Peosta Location Location Calmar, IA or Peosta, IA Position Summary Information Job Goal We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Electrical Instructor to teach non-credit certificate courses in Electrical Installation and/or Electrical Maintenance and Safety. The instructor will deliver high-quality classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction that provides students with the practical skills and industry knowledge needed for entry-level employment or career advancement in the electrical field. Minimal Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred. Must possess a diploma in an Electrical related program, and/or 3 years (6000 hours) of recent and relevant work experience. Demonstrated knowledge of: Electrical theory and principles National Electrical Code ( NEC ) Electrical installation techniques Electrical maintenance and troubleshooting Electrical safety standards and OSHA regulations Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively teach adult learners with diverse educational backgrounds. Basic computer proficiency. Preferred Qualifications: Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician. Previous teaching, training, or workforce development experience. OSHA 10- or OSHA 30-Hour certification. Willingness to obtain specialized train the trainer certification. Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, commercial, or construction environments. Duties and Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction. Teach electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety practices in accordance with current industry standards. Instruct students in the proper use of electrical tools, equipment, and testing instruments. Demonstrate electrical wiring methods, circuit installation, blueprint reading, and preventive maintenance techniques. Integrate electrical safety standards, including OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment ( PPE ), and safe work practices into all instruction. Assess student learning through quizzes, practical demonstrations, projects, and skills assessments. Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student progress records. Ensure laboratory equipment and instructional materials are maintained in a safe and organized manner. Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Stay current with changes in electrical codes, technologies, and industry best practices. Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, and instructor meetings as needed.
