Psychiatric Nurse PractitionerDiagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic psychiatric illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team. Manage clients' treatment by creating and following a treatment plan providing emotional support and advocating for clients. The NP may order, perform or interpret diagnostic tests, conduct individual, group or family counseling sessions, and write prescriptions including psychotropic medicines.
