Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager Job Description
The Quality Assurance Manager leads and oversees all aspects of the quality management system within a manufacturing environment. This role reports directly to the President and is responsible for product quality, supplier quality, compliance with industry standards, internal auditing programs, corrective and preventive actions, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. The Quality Assurance Manager provides hands-on leadership to quality, inspection, and engineering personnel while promoting a strong culture of quality across the organization.
Responsibilities- Lead, maintain, and continually improve the company’s quality management system and quality assurance programs.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal standards, and documented quality procedures.
- Manage and oversee product quality throughout forging, machining, inspection, and shipping processes.
- Evaluate and audit supplier quality systems and monitor vendor performance to ensure consistent quality.
- Lead internal quality audits and support external customer and certification audits, including AS9100-related activities.
- Oversee calibration programs for all inspection and measuring equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Manage corrective and preventive action programs to resolve quality concerns and drive continuous improvement.
- Review certifications, shipping documentation, and quality records to ensure alignment with customer specifications.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate employee quality training programs for production, inspection, and engineering staff.
- Maintain customer specification requirements and quality documentation, ensuring proper control and accessibility.
- Support inventory audits of raw materials and work-in-process inventory to verify accuracy and compliance.
- Participate in production, management, and continuous improvement meetings to represent quality interests and initiatives.
- Provide technical support related to engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection processes as needed.
- Assist with shipping and inspection activities during peak workload periods to ensure on-time, compliant deliveries.
- Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, determine root causes, and recommend actionable improvements.
- Supervise engineering, inspection, and quality assurance personnel, providing direction, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Minimum 5 years of quality leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of forging, machining, metal manufacturing, or industrial production processes.
- Experience with AS9100 and related quality management systems.
- Proven knowledge of auditing practices, including planning, conducting, and reporting internal and supplier audits.
- Demonstrated experience with corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience managing quality personnel and cross-functional teams in a production setting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with inspection instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and other hand tools used for inspection.
- Experience with calibration and maintenance of inspection and measuring equipment.
- Ability to review and manage specification documents, certifications, and shipping/receiving documentation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a noisy industrial environment and safely navigate areas with moving mechanical parts.
- Experience with quality systems and standards commonly used in aerospace or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Background in managing or supporting shipping and receiving functions related to quality verification.
- Familiarity with inventory audits for raw materials and work-in-process inventory.
- Experience participating in or leading continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing setting.
- Comfort working with data and metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a structured approach to root cause analysis.
- Ability to train and mentor employees on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and documentation requirements.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in an industrial manufacturing setting that involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and potentially hazardous conditions. The work environment is often loud due to operating equipment and machinery. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods, as well as occasional sitting, stooping, climbing, balancing, and working at high or precarious places. The employee must frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. There is potential exposure to a risk of electrical shock. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work is performed both on the production floor and in office areas where quality documentation, inspection activities, and meetings occur.
