Maintenance Operations Supervisor

About the Role Location: Safety-Kleen Refinery, East Chicago, IN. Role: Facility Operations Supervisor – Responsible for front‑line leadership supervision of plant operations, including refinery operations, shipping and receiving, maintenance, blending, and wastewater operations depending on department. Compensation: 90k+ DOE, salary with premium pay, overtime for salaried employees. Shift: 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday–Friday, overtime required on some weekends, travel between plant and leased property, sorting construction equipment issuing permits. Why Work for Safety-Kleen? Responsibilities Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with safe work practices, policies, and processes. Perform supervision of department and site‑specific plant operations, including truck and rail loading/unloading, refinery operations, tank farm operations, wastewater treatment, and scanning applications for waste tracking. Supervise and mentor multiple plant foremen/employees and plant operations. Act as subject‑matter expert in area(s) of responsibility. Ensure employees follow and maintain all applicable Health and Safety rules, SOPs, and site‑specific policies, holding employees accountable when they do not. Ensure supervised operations/employees understand and have ownership for area‑specific permit‑required compliance standards. Maintain a clean work environment in areas of responsibility. Spearhead commissioning and operational handover of a Solvent De‑asphalting (SDA) refinery unit, while managing construction onboarding, dewatering permitting, inventory conversion, and daily process operations. Other duties as required. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent (required). 5 to 7 years of operation experience (preferred). Department of Transportation (DOT) training. Petroleum, chemical industrial operator experience. Forklift training. Leadership skills and ability. Ability to work in a team environment. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to review all applicable SOPs annually and score satisfactorily on quizzes. Proficiency in Windows‑based applications. Plant operations experience. Plant supervision experience. Knowledge of scanning applications, EOM scanning SOPs, VPI / Pick sheets. Proficiency in multiple site‑specific plant operations. Updated resume including most recent employer.
