Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care hospital in Santa Rosa, CA, requiring Level I trauma experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties including neuro, vascular, and orthopedics.

Job Details

• Work setting is a 277-bed acute care hospital in an Operating Room environment,
• Surgical specialties include trauma, neuro, vascular, orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, bariatrics, thoracic, plastics, and podiatry,
• Procedures performed include craniotomies, spinal fusions, total joint replacements, carotid endarterectomy, AAA repair, Whipple procedures, robotic surgery (Da Vinci Xi), and VATS, among others,
• Equipment used includes electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana Table, and cell saver,
• Charting is done in Epic; experience is required,
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (9:00-21:00); variable start times of 7:00 or 9:00 may apply,
• Weekend availability required,
• On-call is required and distributed equally among all nursing staff approximately every 6 weeks, with up to 6-8 on-call shifts per 6-week period including nights, evenings, and weekends (8-hour increments),
• Occasional night shift coverage may be required during the contract,
• Floating between like units within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities is required,
• Block scheduling is available at manager's discretion,
• Free parking is available on-site,

Job Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted,
• Current BLS certification required,
• Minimum 3 years of OR experience required; 5 years preferred,
• Level I trauma experience required,
• Experience across multiple surgical specialties required, including trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedics,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Prior travel nursing experience required,
• 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty or setting,
• SSN and DOB required for consideration,
• Copies of certifications required for consideration,

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are accepted; the 50-mile radius rule applies and may affect pay rate eligibility,
• Former permanent employees of the health system must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility,
• Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment,
• Holiday coverage is required for 2 out of 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day,
• RTO (time off) requests must be submitted at the time of consideration; minimal RTO is strongly preferred,
• Scrubs are provided for OR/Endo/L&D/PACU assignments,
• Orientation modules are completed prior to start and annually; average completion time is approximately 16 hours
