Senior AccountantGSM Outdoors is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant who is looking to take the next step in their career and become a strategic partner to the business. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with executive leadership, support private equity initiatives, participate in acquisition activities, improve business processes, and drive financial insights across a rapidly growing organization.This is more than a traditional accounting role. We're looking for someone who is intellectually curious, analytical, and eager to identify opportunities for improvement while helping scale the finance function.As a Senior Accountant, you'll have exposure to multiple business units, distribution centers, manufacturing partners, and executive leadership. You'll play a key role in helping the organization make informed business decisions through financial analysis, operational insights, and process improvements.What You'll Do:Financial Reporting & AnalysisPrepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Perform detailed account reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.Analyze financial performance, profitability, margins, inventory, and operational metrics.Assist leadership with financial reporting packages, variance analysis, and executive presentations.Identify trends and provide actionable recommendations to improve financial performance.Process Improvement & Business PartnershipEvaluate existing accounting and finance processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Logistics, and Product Development teams.Participate in system enhancement initiatives and process automation projects.Assist with ERP optimization and continuous improvement efforts.Strategic Projects & Growth InitiativesSupport acquisition activities, including financial due diligence, integration planning, and post-acquisition reporting.Collaborate with private equity stakeholders and executive leadership on strategic initiatives.Participate in special projects related to business growth, operational improvements, and financial planning.Assist with ad hoc financial modeling and business case analysis.Travel & Operational ExposureTravel periodically to GSM locations, distribution centers, and manufacturing partners to gain firsthand understanding of operations.Evaluate operational processes and identify opportunities for financial and operational improvements.Build relationships with leaders across the organization to better understand business drivers and challenges.Accounting OperationsMaintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.Prepare and record journal entries for revenue, payroll, benefits, leases, fixed assets, and accruals.Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.Assist with external audits and financial reporting requirements.Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.RequirementsWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.3-5 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred) and/or corporate accounting.Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, Power Query, and financial analysis techniques.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.Ability to communicate financial concepts to both finance and non-finance audiences.Preferred QualificationsCPA certification or CPA track preferred.Experience with audit, advisory, transaction services, or financial due diligence.Experience working in manufacturing, consumer products, distribution, or inventory-intensive environments.Exposure to mergers and acquisitions is a plus.Experience with ERP systems and process improvement initiatives.Why GSM Outdoors?Exposure to executive leadership and private equity ownership.Opportunity to support acquisitions and strategic growth initiatives.Ability to influence business decisions through financial analysis.Hands-on involvement with process improvement and automation projects.Cross-functional exposure across multiple brands and business units.Career growth opportunities within a rapidly growing organization.A culture that values initiative, ownership, and continuous improvement.If you're looking to move beyond traditional accounting responsibilities and play a meaningful role in a growing organization, we'd love to hear from you.
